Seily's POV
“Dad, I didn't want to go on that blind date. I wanted to find the man I was going to marry naturally,“ I told dad. I was at home and trying to cope with the hang over which I got from last night's party.
I was in a slumber when dad barged into my room all mad, telling me about a blind date. He insisted on making me attend this date because, as he said, the man was his friend's son. I don't really care whose son he was, I don't like to meet the man I wanted to marry that way.
“You go and see him. This one is responsible. I'm sure he could make you a better person,“ Dad said. What is he talking about? Am I a bad person to him? Just because I was acting like that means I was a terrible person. I had never given him headaches before.
“Do I look like I need another father for a husband? You're already enough in that department. Besides, I'm still young and yet you already wanted to give me away?“ I complained to him.
Don't get me wrong, dad was the best. He raised me alone and I never saw him dating or being intimate with any woman. He's loyal to my mother. I don't know why he was acting like I'm already old and needed to settle down. For goodness sake, I am only 21 and will be 22 soon.
“Dad, you're not sick or anything, right?“ I asked him, feeling concern. “Whatever you are thinking, you're wrong. I am still as strong as a bull, so stop running. wild imagination. I just wanted you to go on this blind date and meet the man.“ He said, getting angry. I rolled my eyes at him and his eyes widened.
“Don't you dare roll your eyes at me, Seily. Anyway, there's no saying no, you'll meet the man.“ He said and went out of my room. I didn't know what got into dad's mind, but there's no way I would be going on that blind date.
I went back to my bed and decided to sleep once again. I needed it more than a man in my life. I fell out of my bed when dad barged into my room once again, “Seily, later at 4. Serene Hotel. Don't you dare not attend or you'll see.“ Dad warned me. “Fine, just let me sleep now. Gosh dad, you're becoming annoying.“ I told him, he was about to say something, so I stood up, showing him that I was already moving. He left my room after that, because I didn't have a choice, I might as well wake up already.
I called Eolly so I would have her with me during the blind date.
"What's up?" She said as soon as she answered my call.
"Girl........ where are you? Can you come with me? I'm going to attend a blind date my mom has arranged for me. I'm so, so, so, sooooooo need you to come with me." I told her, not to give her the chance to say no. I know her very well. She doesn't like going out. The reason she had attended last night was because she liked some of our previous school mates and classmates.
"But I'm in a job interview right now? What time will you go?" I couldn't believe her. There's no way she was there. She didn't like working. That would take most of her time.
"Job interview? When did you become interested in an 8 to 5 job and when did you even apply for a job? Are you out of money? You know I can lend you, right?" I asked her non-stop. Why not? She's not acting by herself now.
"It's nothing like that, if you remember Aunt Rosy, the old lady I helped with the gangster on the street in C City? She has a workaholic son and she wants me to cause some trouble for him , and because I lost our bet, I had to do as she wished." Eolly said with a loud laugh. "Anyway, when and where is your blind date?" She asked me after.
"Oh, it's today at 4 in the afternoon at the Serene Hotel,” I informed her.
"Fine, let's meet at Serene Hotel later, see you bye." She said her goodbyes and hung up the phone.
Well, that was something new. Eolly working means I will become single as soon as she lands a job and I am 100% sure that she will. Yeah, single. Because I believe she is my other half.
I guess I will have to get up now so that dad will not barge into my room again. I really do not lock my room door, I want dad to have access to her anytime. That's how close we are and I think I will start to regret it if he continues to act that way.
I freshened up and went downstairs. Dad was in the living room and he looked up at me when he heard me, “Dad, can I just not go there? I mean, I'm still young. I don't need to attend such a blind date yet.“ I complained again. I sat beside him and hugged him after giving him a kiss on his kiss.
“You're going to attend that date, no matter what you do, you still follow me.“ He said as he read the morning newspaper.
I got up and went to the dining area, stomping my feet. He just chuckled at my action as he followed me. He was always like this, he waited for me before he ate. Exactly the reason why I never felt alone all this time is that he was busy working.
“I am not asking you to get married, I only wanted you to meet people. Andrew is the son of a good friend of mine. He doesn't have a girlfriend right now because he is busy with his family business. I assure you that he is a gentleman and wouldn't do anything to you,“ Dad said.
“Whatever, but I cannot promise you that I would be able to like him. You know me, I don't easily get swayed by hardworking people or just being good-looking. I should find him attractive in many ways, so don't expect that this “blind date”, as you called it, will be fruitful.“ I told him to stress the blind date.
He just nodded and smiled at me as we started eating our breakfast. I looked at dad and I wondered why he had never married again. No matter how I saw him, he was handsome for his age. I'm not being biased, just because he's my dad. It doesn't mean I will have to say such things.
He was really good looking, no wonder mom had fallen for him. “Dad, why didn't you get married again?“ I asked him. He looked at him blankly, maybe he was thinking why I was asking him that all of a sudden.
“I couldn't find someone like your mom.“ He answered. I felt relieved by his answer. I thought he had lost sight of women already.
“You know I wouldn't stop you if you ever wanted to get married again, right?“ I told him. “Its not as though you could do anything about it if it happened.“ He replied and I looked at him accusingly. “You mean, even if I didn't like the woman you'd still go for it?.“ I asked him with wide eyes and he laugh.
“Look at your face.“ He said in between laughter, “Dad….“ I complained. “Alright, you don't have to worry because I will ask your permission first before getting married again when the time comes “, he assured me.
I stayed in my room while waiting for my blind date. Dad had left for work after we had breakfast. Although I wasn't interested in this date, I still wanted to look beautiful. But I made myself simple so he wouldn't think that U was looking forward to this date.
I arrived early and reserved a table for Eolly adjacent to ours. I want her to hear everything about my blind date and I would talk about it. I just hope it will be interesting. I was thinking of my friend Eolly when I received her call,
“Girl, are you here yet?" I asked as soon as I answered her call.
"Yeah, where are you? I am at the lobby entrance now."
"Oh, OK. I can see you. Please sit next to our table. I reserved it for you."
"Alright, bye." She ended the call. After a while, I saw her approaching the table I had reserved for her.
After a few minutes, my blind date arrived. He looks pretty decent and he is on time. He was tall and handsome, his complexion was very manly, not too fair and not too dark and he walked with confidence. A complete definition of a real Adonis for me.
He ordered the food for us after he asked me what I liked. He was considerate, I can give him that. He was a gentleman and I could say I liked his company. The blind date went well and I can say that I like him and vice versa. He asked me if he could send me home but I refused and told him that I had a friend with me and pointed at Eolly. Andrew looked at Eolly with shock and shyness as I introduced them to each other.
It was 6 pm when Andrew said goodbye and asked me if it was possible if we could meet again, worrying about my reply. I said yes and and his worried face became happy and sighed in relief. We shook hands and he left.
"Congrats girl" Eolly said happily. I was so shy and I was 100% sure that I liked Andrew.
"Next time, you won't be needing me, right?" Eolly asked.
"Yeah, hahaha, thank you girl" I replied happily.
I told Eolly that I would send her home but she refused, saying she had to go somewhere first. After reminding her to take care, I walked to the parking lot and accidentally bumped into someone, “I'm sorry,” I said, and did not bother to look at whoever he was or wait for his reply. I rushed to my car and drove home.
