Peterson and the others nodded as they handed the extra weapons and ammo to the agents. They tuned their transceivers as instructed. Each officer was outfitted with the latest model; a bone conduction earpiece with a built-in microphone tethered to a portable unit attached to each of their duty belts.
The desk sergeant's eyes grew wide, as he looked to the other officers who were clearly not in the know. Those that were, figured out a half a second too late what was going on. An officer, who had walked by three times previously, dropped his paperwork and pulled his service revolver. Others began following suit.
