Helena trudges out of her second class for that day, sighing in frustration, shoulders slouched down in tiredness, books in hand. That had been a quick and intense one and she had left the lecture hall after everyone else had, taking time to steady herself and her beating heart. She was hardly able to concentrate on the lecture. Her mind had often wandered to the boy with the pale, icy blue eyes and back to the lecture. And she had frowned slightly, beating her pen against her leg every time she remembered him. She was indeed curious as to why he had sounded that way when she was obviously just meeting him for the first time. Her phone buzzed. Bringing her hand up to look at the screen of her buzzing cell. The name ‘Louise’ displaying on it as it rang out. Sighing she swiped left on the screen, with one hand and picked the call, listening. “Hey! Wanna meet up at the campus cafeteria?”, Louise's angelic voice boomed through the cell. “Sure, why not”, she replied. “Will you be able to find your way?”Louise asked, concerned. “I’d try”, she chuckled. “Okay, I’ll be seeing you”, Louise says and hangs up. Helena groans and sighs, making her way to the cafeteria. Finding her way wasn’t as bad as she expected it to turn out, this time she had made sure to ask for directions from a few people. Looking around, eyes darting nervously, books still in hand but now clutched to her chest, she scanned the swarming cafeteria for Louise. Louise saw her first and waved her over. She was seated with three others at the table; Helena recognized Samantha almost immediately, as she sat there, a scowl on her face, typing away on her cell. Helena strode towards them, a bright smile on her face concealing the frustration she was feeling earlier. Louise rose gesturing for her to take the seat beside her. Helena waved a greeting as soon as she got in front of them and sat down, dropping her books on the smooth, unblemished surface of the rectangular table then Louise introduced her to the group. “Hey everyone, meet Helena—she’s a transfer student and also, me and Sammy’s new roommate”. “Hello, I’m Jessica but a lot of people call me Jesse”, the girl in front of Helena spoke first. “I’m a sophomore”, she adds. “Majoring in computer science and programming”. “We call her ‘Tech girl’”, Louise chipped in. “Com’on Louise”, Jesse says glaring at Louise. “Nice to meet you”, Helena responds, politely to Jesse. Jesse’s hair was jet black and long. Her smile was beautiful, her face was welcoming and her voice sounded cheerful and bright. “I’m still in my freshman year, I had to transfer because—of—of—personal reasons”, she chuckled dryly as those memories hit her. “Ohhh”, Jesse mouthed. Louise looks at her, eyes soft and comforting. Samantha looked up from her cell, eyed her and then went back to typing away, unconcerned. The last girl about to introduce herself, huffed. “I’m Sabrina”, her voice impaled with annoyance. “Sophomore year”. “Jesse and I are roommates” Louise glared at her, Helena not noticing. “What?”Sabrina threw back. “Let the poor girl breathe, you guys almost suffocated her with those pitiful gazes”, she shrilled and takes a sip from the drink in front of her. Helena smiles at her almost thankfully. Sabrina had very beautiful brown eyes, grey blonde hair, pretty face and a sharp tongue. She didn’t sugarcoat her words and Helena had to admire that about her. “So how has your first day here been so far ?”Louise asked, changing the topic and easing the tension completely. Samantha remained quiet, eyes still glued to the screen of her cell. “It has been one thing for sure—very stressful”, Helena answered casually, sighing and slouching. Sabrina sighs “I don’t think I’d have survived if it was me”, everyone rolled their eyes at her. “What! It’s not entirely my fault that I was built different bitches”, Sabrina voices out, glaring at Louise and Jesse. “Whatever”, Jesse waves her off and turns to Helena. “Met anyone new today—yet?” Louise leans forward looking at Helena’s face. Sabrina takes another sip out of her drink and nudges at Samantha’s side. Samantha drops her phone and throws a quick smirk her way, then picks it up back and continued to tap on the screen. “Well … apart from you guys, not really…”, Helena starts but trails off. “Yes, she did”, Sabrina squeals. Helena’s cheeks flush a bright pink, hardly noticeable by the others. “Com’on spill!” Sabrina pressed. “Sabrina!” Jesse shoots a glare her way. “What!?” “It’s totally fine, it’s not really anyone important anyway”, Helena shrugs. “Joy killers”, Sabrina shoots at Jesse. “Com’on I wanna hear it”, Louise chirps in. “I bumped into someone and he seemed really pissed”, Helena began, twisting her fingers absentmindedly. “Hmmmm”, Sabrina sips her drink. It was really nothing to Helena but she felt that familiarity swirl within every time she recalled the color of his eyes and how they had looked into hers. “Is he in your year?” Jesse suddenly asks. “Or your class?” Samantha raises an eyebrow at them. Sabrina nods agreeing to the question. “I don’t think so, I…”, Helena trails off, looking sideways and pausing mid sentence as her gaze travels to four guys walking through the cafeteria’s doors. The pale, icy blue eyed guy was amongst them. They strode in confidently as the students—girls especially started to flock around them. Helena’s breath hitched, making her suddenly swallow. Sabrina traced Helena’s gaze to the pale, icy blue eyed boy and exclaimed after connecting all her dots. “Holy molly! him?” Helena nods, unsure of what to say. “Guy in the black leather jacket?”, she adds for clearer specification. Everyone’s attention was now focused on her even Samantha had to stop typing to listen. “Jason? Jason Jordan?” “Crap”, Jesse says as she turns towards the group of four boys. Samantha frowns slightly. Louise almost squeals. “He’s like the one of hottest guys on campus”. “And—Sammy’s brother”, Louise reveals to a shocked Helena. “Half—brother!”Samantha shot, correcting her. “Oops my bad”.
