A sound—no, a feeling—reverberated through Lia’s skull. Something about it felt familiar, but she couldn’t figure out how. This sound grew louder, and then louder yet. Lia put her hands over her ears and screamed. The sound retreated but did not disperse. Again, she felt a sense of familiarity, of resonance, as though hearing a language she had once understood. But no more. I don’t know what it is anymore. “You do.” Somehow, the vibration transformed itself into words. “You know how to communicate. You must.
