CHAPTER 13 Eyes shut, Clarissa’s hands skillfully shuffled the huge cards, and put them in front of Lia. “I need four cuts, dear,” she said in a voice that was hers, but not quite. “Put your question firmly in your mind and let it guide you.” Lia doubted, and Clarissa opened one eye, as if spying on her. “So?” she urged. “Well, I want to know where Aiden is, and what happened in the hotel room, what this whole mess is about, and…” Clarissa opened both eyes and looked at Lia in annoyance as she cut off her tirade by making a scissor motion in the air with one dark hand. “We’re making a four-card spread.
