SOPHIE'S POV
I was in the midst of a deep sleep when I heard the buzzing of my phone. Not once, not twice, but on several occasions. As I rolled over and pulled the pillow over my head, I let out a grumbling sound. I was wondering why someone would contact me at this hour on a weekend. A number of individuals lacked any sense of decency.
This continued to be the case. It was abundantly evident that whoever it was had no intention of allowing me to sleep in peace.
I let out a furious sigh as I went for my phone and responded without even examining the screen. I did this without even looking at it.
I murmured, "Hmm," as I was half asleep.
"And good morning to you too." The sound of a deep male voice filled my ear.
I did a frown. Such a voice did not sound like anyone I knew. My brain, which was still foggy, had a hard time putting it in its proper position.
I mumbled, "Wrong number," as I began to remove the phone from my ear in order to terminate the line of communication.
"Do not hang up." It was a solid voice, almost authoritative in its tone.
I opened my eyes wide as a result of that. As I took a quick look at the screen, my brows began to furrow together. Not known to anyone.
"Who in the heck are you? That being said, why are you making me feel threatened first thing in the morning? With my tiredness rapidly melting away, I snapped.
"Three days."
I blinked my eyes. For three days? What exactly was he? Then it dawned on me.
"Oh," I mumbled as I sat up straight. To you, "The conceited individual."
No words came from him.
"I've already told you that. As my annoyance level increased, I responded by saying, "I am not interested in your offer." "Not once have I thought about it over the past three days."
His tone was unreadable as he pondered, "It is so impudent of you to reject me."
I gave a smirk. You have no idea how daring I can be as a person. However, I am grateful for the compliment. At this time, if it is not too much trouble, I would want to return to my sleep. What do you mean by that activity that regular folks do on the weekends?
"Lazy."
I clenched my teeth and gritted my teeth. "Excuse me?"
What a ridiculous statement to make. "I said, You are lazy."
"You wake me up for this?" I let out a huff. In the event that I had any reservations about declining your offer, you have just dispelled them. It seems inconceivable that I would ever work for someone who is as impolite as you.
"You think I care about your opinion?"
I retorted, "No, but I do not care about yours either." That was my response. "So why do you keep calling me?"
After a brief period of silence, he finally broke it with another word.
Furthermore, I continued by saying, "You know, I actually feel bad for Élodie." She should have a father who is more capable than you. To what extent do you even consider how she would react if she knew that you were coercing someone into doing something that they do not want to do?
His voice became icy and icy. Your interference is completely unwarranted. In addition, she will be unaware of it unless you inform her.
I gave a sigh of relief. "That's fine. There will be no interference from me in your affairs. I shall not divulge any information to Élodie.
"Good."
"But only on one condition."
There was a brief pause. "Condition?" He laughed it off. "You are the first person who dares to negotiate with me."
I don't know what else to say. It makes me happy to be unique.
It was a chuckle. "Go on."
Don't bother calling me. Please refrain from making this absurd offer to me. Can you please leave me alone?
"No."
I made my eyes more narrow. "Excuse me?"
"No," he replied without wavering in his tone. You are unable to turn me down. When I have made a decision, no one can contradict me or disagree with me. You are included in that."
I had a chuckle out loud. "Oh, really? And just what are you going to do in response to this situation?
"You will see." The tone of his voice was mysteriously amused. "You are going to come to me, and you are going to say, Sure. Take my words for it.
"Ha!" Louis, you are quite humorous. Watch how you manage to pull that off, shall we?
"Challenge accepted."
When I attempted to respond, the line suddenly went dead.
My irritation reached an entirely new level as I couldn't take my eyes off of my phone.
Just now, did he—
A groan of exasperation came out of my mouth as I threw my phone onto the bed. The man in question was intolerable. Do you know who he thought he was?
After shaking my head, I proceeded to draw my blanket over my head, resolute in my intention to return to sleep. Nevertheless, despite my best efforts, his words continued to play over and over in my thoughts.
What did Jesus mean when he said, "You will come to me," to begin with?
How did he intend to proceed?
I was wondering why I had such a negative feeling about this.
