Valerie could feel Alexander's gaze piercing through her skin.. she shifted uncomfortably on the seat and looked away.. Alexander pulls the car into the streets they had just been.. "Where exactly did you leave the tricycle?" Alexander muttered.. Valerie directs him and they put the tricycle in the car **** "Ahhh.. fuckkk" Jake shrieks.. "Valerie! where the f**k did you losers take her to?" Jake sneered.. "Young man, it's best you stay quiet".. one of the men replied.. "Or what?".. Jake scoffed..a man stands up and throws him a punch in the face "What the? Jake gasps and wipes off his lips "Jakeeee" Valerie screams on seeing this.. and rushed over to help.. "It was you.. one if the men walked drowsily.. pointing his fingers towards Valerie.. Valerie freezes, realizing she had messed up.. It was just the three of them against a group of men Alexander, not wanting the scene to escalate, pulled out a thick wad of cash and threw it at the men. The bundle hit the ground with a thud, bills spilling onto the dusty pavement. The men froze, greed momentarily overtaking anger. Valerie and Jake stood in stunned silence. Jake's eyes shifted to the sleek black car behind Alexander. His jaw dropped slightly. “No way…” he muttered. That was a Bugatti La Voiture Noire a rare, custom-made car worth millions. Only one had ever been made. “Who the hell is this guy?” Jake whispered under his breath, his earlier anger now mixed with disbelief. Alexander dropped Jake off at the café. Valerie waved Jake goodbye, and to her surprise, he smiled and gave her a playful wink. Valerie blinked, taken aback by his behavior. She turned towards Alexander, unsure of what to say. Alexander exhaled slowly, his eyes still on the road ahead. “Valerie.” “Yeah?” she murmured, barely audible. “I know you don’t know me… and truthfully, you won’t believe everything I’d tell you, even if I tried. So, I’d rather you see it for yourself.” He reached into the inner pocket of his suit and pulled out a sleek black card. “In the meantime, it’s not safe for you to keep working here. I’d like to offer you a job.” He gently took her hand and placed the card on it. “My business card.” Valerie looked down at it, her brows knitting. She gave a small nod. “Don’t be afraid of me,” he said softly, then shifted the gear and began driving toward the inn. Valerie not really sure of his background, knew he was extremely powerful and not someone to be triffled with.. she just didn't understand why someone like him would help someone like her She wasn't entirely surprised when the car stopped right in front of the inn she stayed in. "Mr Alexander", she said, offering a small, polite smile "thank you... for everything". He nodded once, his gaze unreadable "Get some rest"... **** Alexander watched Valerie.. walk quietly to her room, like he's been doing for the past few days since she came to the city "Oh Valerie" he sighs, taking a whiff of her scent on the torn dress she had left behind.. "remember me"
