Chapter five

398 Words
I wasn’t supposed to be here , That’s what I kept telling myself while the black car pulled up to gates taller than my father’s house. I have a wealthy parents but there are nothing compared to my uncle when it comes to wealth. UNCLE LORENZO I hadn’t seen him in my entire life but still he sends me birthday gift every year , now I’m nineteen and am so anxious holding a letter from my dad with one word “ He'll take care of you ” I’m so confused but no one wants to give me an explanation. The gate opened without a sound like they’d been waiting . The mansion looks more like a palace from a history book . A man opened the car door for me “Mr De Medici is expecting you miss Holloway ” I followed him through a courtyard where the air smelled like cinder and old money . My shoes clicked too hard on the Mable , I was gripping my gown so tight my knuckles hurt . Then the doors opened And there he was LORENZO DE MEDICI my uncle Thirty six in age Tall in a way that made the room smaller , dark suit, grey eyes that looked right through me like a glass “ IVY ” he said my name *The moment Lorenzo spoke her name, Ivy’s breath stopped.* It wasn’t warm. It wasn’t cold either. Just… *authoritative*. Like he was stating a fact—not greeting a niece. His grey eyes—sharp, calculating—scanned her from head to toe in one silent sweep. No smile. No embrace. Just stillness. He stood like a statue at the center of that grand hall: marble floors reflecting the sunlight through stained-glass windows, oil portraits of ancestors watching silently from the walls.* And then—he stepped forward.* *Lorenzo took slow, measured steps toward Ivy—each one echoing in the vast marble hall.* The man who ruled an empire with a glance. Who commanded silence just by entering a room. Now standing before his niece . He stopped inches from her—taller than she imagined, broader too. His presence filled the space like smoke: thick and impossible to ignore. Then… without warning… *He reached out.* Not for a hug—but gently lifted his hand to brush a loose strand of hair behind her ear.*
