Author’s Note
I admit to having taking some liberties with location and time frame for some rail lines that ceased to exist well before the era in which my tale takes place. The Santa Fe and the Rio Grande perhaps roll on in some other world, and are cherished still by many rail fans such as me! The SJSW is entirely a figment of my imagination, but darn, it ought to exist! Although Coal Mesa, New Mexico, is also fictional, most other places mentioned are real and found on the maps of the region.
