He watches the house from a near distance before he runs over. He access the house, and see the broken part of the roofings, whose covering area seem likely to be a workshop. Still outside, wandering his eyes round the house, he bends his body downwards to take a very high leap, entering through the ceilings that has as well suffered the disastrous fate.
He wanders his eyes, taking in patiently every pattern of the space, but sees nothing much except worktops where lies on are eclectics tools — some that works manually and others, technically, but something catches his attention. That machine...it was the one Kara's father was working on in the morning. He ignores the things and walks to the dining area, already taken in the scent of Kara and her normal breathing representing the awake state she is in, he realizes that she's not sleeping.
It's so late at night. He expected her to be asleep so he can watch her for a while without being caught, before he goes back into the forest. And then, he hears steps. The clicks of shoes against the wooden floor, too familiar, he recognizes them to be hers. To be Kara's. Hurriedly, he rushes flashily, hiding back to the workshop. He keeps silent — an habit that has grown in him fondly. He does not find it uncomfortable, but as a normal way of his living features.
He hears as she passes by. He prepares to rather leave, knowing what he's doing is wrong and unsafe. If he is caught...
He presses on something, it's a wire. He recognizes it from his own world. They used to use magics to create things like this —but well they don't exactly look like this black, long rubber shaped thing, rather like a sparkling long, cord-like shape —but now that he sees it at Kara's father's place, made without any super powers involvement, he feels surprised and elated, making him pick up the wire. There is a socket, making him the more fascinated. Without much thoughts, he plugs in the wire into the socket, but nothing happens. Well, he actually isn't expecting much except that he was fascinated.
Wanting to leap out of the house, the machine makes a humming sound. He turns his back, anticipating that whatever is happening right this minute might not end up good. What if the whole house blows up this time?
He hears a distress sound from Kara as she gets off her bed and comes out to analyse what is happening. She must not see him. Quickly, he jumps up, and lands outside of the house. Without a glance to his back, he runs into the forest where he will stay for perhaps days until he feels bit better to come back to his kingdom.
Getting to the living room, father's door opens as well. He takes a lamp with him which I collect from him and direct to his workshop. The sound is becoming more louder by each passing seconds. Judging by the look on father's face, he doesn't take this situation with easiness.
"Nothing like this should happen. I did not connect the wire into the socket." He talks more to himself than to me and I don't mind, as he rushes into his workplace, with me following closely behind.
"Is it any bad?"
"I don't know yet." He says and opens the door for us to enter the room. "Wow! I think it's working well." Once he says finish, I look back at it.
The tubes connected to its body are releasing blue fire along with oblivious smokes, the floors are rumbling, shaking us along with the effect of the engine sound.
Out of the blue, the fire booms red, soaring out that it's burning the nearby tables with valuable items on them. Father and I panic, jumping backwards.
"I don't think it's going well as assumed. The engine's becoming increasingly overloaded. High voltage, I assume. It's making it do more than suppose to."
"In a little, understandable sentence, please re-explain." I say, meaning what I've said. Truly, I do not understand any of his tech words.
"Meaning, it's gained more power than supposed to. Get me the tool box, Kara." He directs his hand to another table. "This thing must be stopped." He adds, while I go take the box for him.
"There's no tool box here."
"W-what...it must be inside." He picks up something from the ground and bends his body so that he wouldn't be in level with the fire incase it haywires again before he presses a button from the item. In return the glass of the machine which acts as the roofing opens up from its closure, accepting allowance into the tech-cart. "Climb those steps, you will be okay. Just get me the rest of the tools, I'll use something else to disconnect the powering source." He tells me. I look at the glass, seeing the slide-able glassy steps that inclines all the way up to be able to enter the tech.
While he moves to the wire which is in the socket that's connected to another big, cylindrical flask, taking half the space of the northern side of the room, I climb the step and there I see the box when I enter, having to seat so I don't fall from the shakiness of the quaking machine.
Suddenly something beams from the front seat where I am, and the glass elevate coming to engulf so that they can close up their insides, abreast the occupant. The engine rises more in audibility, scaring the hell out of me.
"What is that?" I yell down to father. I don't know how but he hears me and I can hear the outside. Maybe the glass isn't that thick after all, or doesn't block sound waves as I had anticipated.
"It's...it's...the machine. It's not sto-stopping." He's in shock as well, not getting himself in assemble. "I've removed the powerful source, off the battery too, nothing works. I think it's still working by using the little it's gained. It should soon off." I don't know if that last statement is to calm me, but instead, I panic the more. I don't want to stay in this thing for any more ticking second.
"Father!" I'm so scared. I don't understand what is happening? And he as well seems lost.
"The engine... oh...Kara...Kara... use the belt now, Kara." Why will he tell me so? And in more frightful tone as that? Did he mean that the machine can fly me at anytime from now? Oh, no! My scariness only increases by ten folds. His words of earlier which I had discarded in my memories that coming back. It might even take me out of town to the next one, or next next one, or even with additional next in the numbers of towns it could take me to before the diminishing power finally is used up.
I do as he order, latching the belt so that it keeps me in place. The fire splits out again, this time acting almost explosive, hurling father to the dining area.
"Father!"
He stands up quickly, rushing into the room again, his eyes stuck on me. The machine hovers in the air, burning the ground beneath, turning everything by its sides to ashes. Then...like a great change in gravity, even with all the leathers stocked upon the seat, I still feel pain when the hefty force of the machine pulls me in opposite direction to its very motion, flying intensely flashily past the garden, covering the whole town in a matter of seconds. All I see is blurry views, but I could make a bit sense out of it.
Stopping all of the sudden, I come into realization that I'm in the air, hovering in a state, not moving forward or backward, but still, except the vibrations that keeps me shaking. Earthwards to me is the trees, they look smaller and tinier from up here than when I'll walk on the ground to near them, and think of how tall they are. But no, it isn't the case at the moment.
I can see the sky well, the moon shines brightly past the glass onto my face, clear and free. And I suppose it surely is bringing out more vibrant coloration from my tender skin. The clouds are more spectacular; I think the machine is close to nearing them. If on another circumstance do I find myself here, I'll be so elated, but all I feel is that crying out loud fear, twisting my stomach badly, causing nausea.
The machine drops, rushing down to the grounds. It rains down, breaking through the tall trees as it comes downwards. I yell, at the same time realizing the feeling of myself being pulled up while the...thing comes down. And then, it meets against the ground, hitting brutally causing the belt to tear off and I hit my back against the glassy roof before coming down by the effect of gravity just to hit my head against the headboard where all the remote buttons are placed...and I'm gone, drifted into an unconscious state.
