“Oh, it won’t be that bad and if it is, you deserve it.” Alison took Harker’s hand. “Let’s go get a table.” She hesitated. “Actually, let’s stay at the bar.”
“Okay.” He pulled out a chair. “But why the change of mind?” He’d been looking forward to tucking her away in a dark corner and f*****g her.
“It’s safer here.” She sat on the chair.
“Oh Alison, I thought you knew me better than that.” He sat next to her. “Nothing will keep me from getting what I want.” He leaned by her ear. “And I want you.” He turned back toward the bar and stopped one of the bartenders as he walked by. “I’ll have a double bourbon on the rocks and Alison will have...” He turned toward her.
“Water.”
“Water?” He frowned. A few drinks might help her forget what an ass he’d been.
