Rachel Dycek

2253 Words

Rachel DycekThe situation in which Rachel found herself seemed more ludicrous than frustrating. She had reached the relative safety of the dva settlement after having survived the depredations of Boris Tiban, the birth of Cora Marisovna’s baby, and the buffeting of the storm—but she had no way to get inside, no means to communicate with the dva miners. Now, just a few feet from rescue, she was stuck. Percival waited patiently for her to decide the next course of action. Rachel guided the rover to the clustered dva shelters, flashing the rover’s spotlights and hoping some of the augmented people huddled inside would notice. With no suit, she could not go outside to contact them, nor did she have any other means to knock on their door, short of crashing through the walls with her rover.
