Theo led Allie to a chair and pulled one up for himself. “You should have been here for what?” Allie asked Theo.
Theo’s face blanched. He gave Lydia with a questioning look. She pursed her lips and shook her head slightly.
He winced. “I thought Marco told you.”
“No one told me, but somebody had better tell me soon, because you’re scaring me!”
Lydia lifted a finger. “I’ll just go mind the shop while you two have a talk.” She hurried off and gently closed the door behind her.
When Lydia was gone, Theo said, “I’m so sorry. I’ve botched this up royally.”
Allie’s impatience mounted. “I’m sure I’d agree—if you’d tell me what’s going on!”
Theo blurted out, “It was Decker.” When Allie’s confusion didn’t seem to subside, he added, “Decker recorded the proposal on his phone and uploaded it.”
