Adeline was about to nibble on more biscuits when she heard footsteps approaching her.
"Boss, I've brought her to you. The payment?" Bob's voice was so loud that Adeline could still hear him clearly through the wall.
The client must have answered him, but she must have spoken in a soft voice because Adeline didn't hear the reply. She couldn't make out what was said after that.
