Mansion

Just as I turned, I saw Jason looking at me with a twisted face. I wanted to know why he showed the expression as though I was jealous of his friends for not being able to spend time with him.

Molly, who saw that the events were not going as she planned, came forward and asked all of them to get in the car.

Aidan sat on the driver's seat and Molly sat with Jason at the back seat. Jason saw me standing outside and sent me a message.

As I was about to get into the car, I saw Jason signaling me to check my phone. I took it and opened the message.

'We want to discuss the surprise gift for Aidan, so sit in front.'

The words were very simple and their intentions were very easy to see through, but I kept silent as though I was naive.

"Come on, get in."

Aidan who saw me standing for a long time asked me to get in.

I sat comfortably without looking at the people behind, not even once.

The car started to move slowly, but as time went on, the speed of the car increased gradually.

I saw the scenery outside and enjoyed it, which gave peace to my stormy mind.

All of a sudden, I felt that I saw someone whom I shouldn't have seen.

I hurriedly asked Aidan to stop the car, saying that my phone slipped from my hand and got down. I bend down in the deserted road and slightly looked towards the direction where I saw that person.

Nobody was there, it felt like an illusion. But I firmly believed that it is impossible to hallucinate, especially if it is about that person.

"What are you doing?"

I heard Jason's impatient voice from behind.

I got up and turned in his direction.

"I saw a small child waving her hand at me, but before I could wave back, she walked away...."

I gave an unhappy look and sat inside the car, without waiting for his response.

I turned and saw that Jason was in a daze and shouted at him to come soon. He snapped from his daze and quickly sat on the car.

He can't come here....... No, it is not my imagination.

I have to warn Ava, else the consequences will be unavoidable in the future.

I thought about the sinister laugh on that person's face and immediately called Ava and asked her to read my message, while casually asking her to eat properly and adjust for tonight.

Ava read my text and replied, "Ok sis".

"You are quite protective of your cousin ah?", Aidan asked me with a half-serious tone.

"Of-course!! She is my only living family member in this world. Other than me, who else will take care of her?", I exclaimed with a sobbing tone.

Hearing me talking about my family, Aidan wanted to ask more, but listening to my sobbing voice, he stopped.

I looked through the rear-mirror and found Jason giving a complicated look.

I knew why he gave such a look. He never asked about my family members, so he didn't know anything about my parents.

The car moved silently without anyone talking.

I didn't bother about the noiseless atmosphere and stared at the scenery, outside the car.

How come I saw him here?

I have to do something, else.... no, no need to think negatively. I will surely do something and make sure that Ava is safe.

I will have to get rid of these fools soon.

I blankly stare at the scenery and started to think of ways to counterattack that person.

By the time I controlled my wavering emotions, I found myself in front of the entrance of an old mansion.

"This is my grandfather's mansion. After he died, this mansion was granted to me.

I hope that all of us will enjoy...", Aidan grinned and proudly told and his eyes shined.

All of us got out of the car and went inside the mansion, one after another.

I was the second to enter, after Aidan, who was heartily welcomed by a middle-aged woman and middle-aged man.

"This is the butler and the head maid. They will take care of all the necessities for us.

As for the camping, we will camp 1 km from here, tonight after 11 pm. There is an empty ground, which is decorated with artificial flowers."

Aidan started talking about the environment and the history of the mansion shortly and sweetly.

The butler asked Aidan and Jason to follow him and the head maid asked me and Molly to follow her. She showed me my room and respectfully asked me to take a rest. After that, the head maid took Molly towards the end of the 2nd floor.

The bedroom had a king-sized bed at the end of the room, next to the window and there were 3 single sofas placed in a triangle form.

I freshened up and took a rest for sometime after messaging Ava about the location and the structure of the mansion.

*creak*

I felt something moving during my peaceful resting time and jerked up with an expressionless face.

*meow*

I saw a white fluffy cat coming in through the slowly opened door.

I let the cat jump towards the jumpy bed and closed the door.

They touched the smooth fur of the cat which was so soft and made it sit on my lap.

All of a sudden, I remembered him. His hair was as soft like the cat's fur. I always liked to play with his hair by braiding it cutely. He always gave an unwilling look but never asked me to stop playing with his hair.

No, forget him Bella...... he is no more......

Don't remember, don't remember.........

I repeatedly asked myself to not remember about him. Each time I remember him, I will be sad. He never liked to see me sad, so I didn't want to remember him.

Ava must be thinking about him right now, that pitiful girl...

"Miss Bella, please come down. Master is calling.", I heard the head maid call me.

I opened the door while carrying the cat and went outside.

As soon as I stepped out of the room, the head maid closed the door and asked me to follow her.

I saw a few maids walking here and there while decorating the mansion beautifully for Aidan's birthday.

"Let's go and then set the materials ready for camping.", I heard Molly speaking to Jason and Aidan.

She saw me coming and gave me a gentle yet distant smile and said, "We will play 'truth or dare' game. Though it will not be as fun as playing with many people, we will at least get to know each other. Let's play, okay, Bella?"

She talked calmly as she hooked her arm around Jason's arm.

Just from that posture, one would know what it means.

Jason and Molly stared at me with widely opened eyes to check out my expression.

But, I never showed any kind of changes in my expression.
