Kane paused the moment he heard her. His shoulders hunched forward as he slowly turned around. "What did you say?" He muttered. Gwendolyn planted both feet on the ground and faced him off. "Say it to my face." She repeated, boldly adding the last part. "Bastard!" Kane's entire body twitched. He dropped the tree trunk he held and cracked his neck, the bones popping loudly.
