Elias stood ten feet away, with his phone in his hand and his face unreadable. “Tracking app,” he said evenly. “You turned it off last night. I had to turn it back on.” His calm scared me more than shouting would have. For a second, I wished the ground would just open up and swallow me whole. The air between us felt uncomfortable. I felt goosebumps, as I tried to stay calm.
