Raven's POV
My entire body is trembling so violently I can hear my teeth chattering in the silence that follows. He's standing right before me now, this creature that looks like Zane but isn't quite him, towering over my broken form on the cold concrete floor.
I should be screaming. I should be calling for Kai through the bond, begging him to come save me. But I can't seem to make my voice work beyond the shallow gasps escaping my damaged throat. My broken legs are sprawled out at wrong angles beneath me and every tiny movement sends fresh waves of agony shooting through my body. Blood is pooling under me, warm and sticky, soaking into the fabric of my borrowed clothes.
This is it. This is the end. He's going to kill me and there's nothing I can do to stop it.
