Chapter 2

What? He didn't deserve to be Emperor?? He was the strongest and most talented immortal in the last ten thousand years in which he was the ruler. All cultivation worlds were under his domain, he had waged war after war to consolidate his throne. As he wished to rebuke his brothers' claims the Great Lord had run out of patience, his voice echoing across the planet, "We take your name so that none shall speak of your heresy!" Another tearing pain deep in his soul, a ripple passed through the cultivation worlds and as the ripple of unseen energy made its way through the cosmos a roaring thunder echoed on each world all anyone heard was the thunder as the formless energy swept by and took a single persons' name from everyone and everything. Books, memory crystals, memories themselves of just a name that could never be spoken or even recalled. As the Solar Immortal watched in shame and guilt as the man in front of him raged and screamed from the torture to lose the essence of who you were the Great Lord drew in a ragged breath, the light around him dimming by half and the other gods with hardly any light left, one could tell they were severely weakened by the ritual they had performed. "And finally we take your cultivation so that none shall suffer at your hands!" The man covered in blood knew there was no time left as the energy from the chains was gone and all that was left was the spear he wrenched his hand tossing a spatial ring above him the rings spatial laws ruptured creating a tear in space the bloody man's heart exploded inside his chest, preferring a bodily death. His soul still had a chance to escape so he could take another body and come back for revenge in the future as his immortal soul shifted towards the spatial crack, "That damned spear!" he thought as his soul pulled against this freakish weapon that was preventing him from leaving. He screamed as he pulled and tore himself in half as he slipped into the spatial crack, this took but a moment in time as the gods realized their enemy was escaping.  The Great Lord shoved the corpse off his spear and thrust up towards the fleeing soul, half the spear pierced into the void. The spatial crack collapsed onto the spears’ body, rending the weapon in half. Quiet descended upon the destroyed palace, the Solar immortal stared and the broken spear and the corpse on the ground, he moved and knelt beside his brother's body whispering over and over "I am sorry my brother, I'm so sorry." The Great Lord looked to his weakened soldiers and took out a crystal from a small cube of light hanging at his waist. He motioned for them to gather around him, looking at the Solar Immortal he said in a softer tone, "The deal is done, you will assist us in eradicating the dark races and you will keep forty percent of their territory for your service to the gods, we are leaving." Turning away he crushed the crystal leaving the palace in a beam of light. In the middle of an anvil, there sat a beautifully made black ring, inlaid with an emerald stone that made it seem like a green eye was staring right at you. As I stared at and listened to my creator I felt ashamed that I couldn't live up to his expectations that I wasn't good enough for him to use. Being called a failure after being born was painful and made the room feel quite uncomfortable. Though being picked up by the pretty elf girl was significantly more enjoyable until I was placed in a tiny box filled with a bunch of defective scrap metal reminding me of my shame.  As we left the room, I realized that we were on my way to my destruction at the behest of my creator. "This isn't fair, I don't want to die....I'm not a failure!" feeling the runes on my body pulsating there was a resonance with a few of the defective pieces "Devour!" A guttural growl escaped my mind and moved through my runes, feeling pain run all over my body, and then the pain stopped almost as soon as it began. I now felt like I was whole and clear-headed, I realized I had power no...I was power. What I absorbed...no. What I ate were the other rings inscribed with time, space, mind, and death runes from various magical races. See! I knew I wasn't a failure! Now I just need to show my maker what I can do and he will want me again. Wait, why have we stopped? "Lord Alithor has ordered these failures to be destroyed, immediately," said the female elf carrying a silver box handing it over to the blacksmith. The blacksmith covered in leathers took the box roughly and threw it directly into the forge, closing the forge he motioned for his apprentice to the bellows. "Get the forge as hot as you can if they aren't destroyed properly or if any of the enchanted rings escape the Lord will be furious." "Let me out! I'm not a failure!" damn it why won't they listen to me? Well, it's not like this fire can hurt any of the defective pieces much less me, we were crafted in a volcano unless that is why he said we were defective. Using mana to amplify the heat, the small silver box started to fall apart. As the heat intensified, most of the defective rings started melting, I felt fear and pain as the heat started to corrode my body. "LET ME OUT!" I screamed as fear overtook my mind, the enchantment on the silver box had broken, all the power I was capable of unleashing exploded out destroying the forge. I was thrown into a dark space. I felt weak and then it just went dark. As the broken soul floated through the void desperately wishing for a body to bind to, the soul passed by many worlds but was unable to make his way into them. He saw worlds with machines and strange creatures. He saw flashes of battles with swords and with bare fists, projectiles, and explosions. There were even some that had harnessed the elements and destroyed great cities in a flash. He tore and clawed against the fabric of space but his power was quickly fading, a bright green light flashed past and ripped a hole through space and went into another world, he took this chance and dashed through the hole and into another dark world not knowing what lay beyond but it was better than dying.
