Eddie and I sat outside his trailer with the sun hanging over us, watching over everything like a distant god. There was no need for another chair, because I just sat on his lap. Elvis serenaded us from his record player – which he was calling our record player. It was like our icon never even died. He certainly didn’t go anywhere for us.
