The Christmas stranger

Chapter 2

I knocked on the door and saw Alice through the window. She walked up to let me in once she saw it was me.

“Welcome Phoenix. I’m glad you made it.” She told me with a genuine smile.

"Thank you for calling me so I could arrive on time." I said quietly.

She nodded her head and grinned. She looked the way I felt.

"How are you Phoenix?" Alice's Fiancé asked me.

"Eh, I'm okay James. I am pretty tired though. Thanks for asking." I said trying not to yawn. After all it is 10 almost 11 at night.

"Come with me, I'll show you your room." Alice told me. I nodded my head and waited a little so she would be in front of me. She led me upstairs and into the first bedroom on the right.

"Good night Phi Phi." Alice said as she gave me a hug. I closed the door behind her after she left. I walked into the bathroom and changed my clothes to my comfy pair of sweats and my ACOTAR t-shirt. I brushed my teeth and my hair because I didn't want my hair to be a rats nest tomorrow morning. After all of that was done, I climbed into bed only to realize that I needed to turn the lights off.

"f**k my life" I muttered. I got up and switched the light off and slowly walked to the bed.

"s**t" I yelped in pain. I stubbed my toe because I couldn't see s**t in the dark. I felt for the bed and climbed back into it. I fell asleep right before my head hit the pillow.

My alarm on my phone went off the next morning. I didn't want to get up, but I can't sleep all day. Even sometimes I wish I could. I got up and turned the alarm off and plopped back onto the bed. There was a knock at the bedroom door so I got up to answer it. Once I opened it, I saw Amber Skerretti, my best friend from high school. We both squealed and hugged each other.

"OMG, I'm so glad Alice invited you to come." I said spewing with happiness.

"Yeah, she invited me, my cousin Allistar, Amy Brown, Branden Yousef, and my cousins best friend Blade Dawson." She said with a huge smile on her face.

"I don't know the boys, do you?" I asked her confused.

"Heck yeah, but I don't know Blade though. I never met Allistar's friends. But I think he's yummy looking. I'll tell you that." She said giggling. When she looked harder at me, I saw her get a certain glint in her eyes that I knew quite well.

"No!" I said sternly.

"You are not making me into a project. I don't know these men and I know for sure that I won't be talking to any of them any time soon. So please stop before you drag me into something that will most definitely turn into a hurtful downfall."

"Oh honey, I've already started planning." Once she saw my face, she burst into laughter.

"So sorry." Then she guffawed again.

"Leave me be so I can get ready for the day." I told her.

I shoved her out and closed the door to lean against it.

"Why is she doing this to me?" I grumbled.

I shoved away from the door and got dressed in my ACOTAR night court sweatshirt and a pair of grey sweats. The shoes I chose were my black VANS. I saw a design on them and looked closer.

"What a coincidence that there is a guy named Blade here, and there is a design of a blade on these beautiful VANS." I rolled my eyes after I realized I said that out loud. All dressed and all the other things I needed to get done were done, I opened the door and headed down stairs. I listened for voices and I could hear them somewhere in the house, so I followed them and saw everybody in the kitchen.

"Hey Phoenix, you're finally awake!" Alice said smiling. I nodded to her and sat down away from everybody. I only paid attention when some one said,

"NO WAY! You've read the ACOTAR series?" I looked up and saw Amy Brown looking at me.

"Well yeah, I love that series. Honestly, I'm obsessed with it." I said grinning.

"Me too. I love that series. Which book do you like the most?" Amy asked me.

"Oh I like them all equally. But I do like, A Court Of Silver Flames a little bit more. mainly because how Nesta acts towards Cassian." I told her laughing.

"Hey chicks, can we join the conversation?" A guy asked out of nowhere. Amber jerked jerked her head up and scowled at him.

"Allistar, that's not very nice! And do not interrupt! First ask them their names if you don't know them." She scolded him.

The guy lifted his hands and started counting them off.

"First you're not my boss, second I'm not five, third I don't give a f**k about your mother telling you to watch me, and fourth I'll. Do. Whatever. The. f**k. I. Want. To." He said, scowling right back at her.

"At the mother comment, Ambers jaw dropped, but her face went beat red.

"Don't diss my mother!" She hissed at him

"And how did you know?" She asked him confused.

"Ah about that, I just know aunt Helen. And I know you." He told her with a smirk on his face. I lowered my eyes when (I guess his name is Allistar) looked back at me.

"What's your name?" Another guy asked.

"I'm Amy Brown, and I'm 21 years old."

"I wasn't talking to you!" He scowled at her.

I jerked my head up and frowned.

"Why can't this whole Christmas vacation go well without everybody being pissy with each other. So why don't we all go in a circle and introduce ourselves. Then we can try to get along." I said calmly, instead of shouting it out to shut them up.
