LIMA’S LA CASA MATUSITA LA CASA MATUSITA, OR the house of Matusita, is one of Lima’s most haunted places. Many believe the area was cursed in the 1700s by Dervaspa Parvaneh, a Persian healer who practiced alternative medicine. The Spanish Inquisition persecuted and tortured her until she confessed to being a witch. They burned her at the stake, but she cursed the area before she died. A wealthy man who built his house on the cursed site met a gruesome end. A Japanese family, the Matsushitas, whom the house is named after, moved in and met a tragic end.
