PASADENA’S COLORADO STREET BRIDGE
THE 1,486-FOOT-LONG bridge opened in 1913. It’s 150 feet high and part of Route 66. Its first death occurred during its construction when an accident claimed a worker who was entombed.
Six years later, in 1919, the first suicide occurred. More followed during the Great Depression. They nicknamed the bridge the Suicide Bridge, which businesses used in ads.
The bridge’s apparitions include a man with wire glasses and screaming ghosts who leap from the bridge. While under the bridge, witnesses reported cold spots, disembodied voices, and a change in animals’ behavior.
