Its first death occurred during its construction when an accident claimed a worker who was entombed. Six years later, in 1919, the first suicide occurred. More followed during the Great Depression. They nicknamed the bridge the Suicide Bridge, which businesses used in ads. The bridge’s apparitions include a man with wire glasses and screaming ghosts who leap from the bridge.
