THE ARCTIC QALUPALIK
THE QALUPALIK IS A creature who kidnaps children playing near the water’s edge or youngsters who misbehave. The victim’s youth is drained, and they are eaten or become a Qalupalik.
Qalupalik are tall humanoid fish with scaley blue-green skin, webbed claws, sharp teeth, large eyes, and long seaweed hair. They wear an Inuit’s parka with a large hood traditionally used to carry children.
A Qalupalik is near when you smell dead or rotting fish, steam rises from the water, and humming or knocking comes from the ice beneath you.
