THE AMAROK IS A WOLF spirit from Inuit mythology. Some suggest Amarok is not the same as the trickster wolf god Amaguq, or the creature known as Shunka Warakˈin, and conflicting records are unclear if the Amarok and waheela are the same creature. The Amarok is a mystic creature that resembles a giant white wolf, or dire wolf. The Amarok was created to eat sick or weak caribou while healthy caribou were enjoyed by humans. However, Amarok will attack hunters at night. Witnesses have claimed seeing an Amarok-like creature. Zoologist stated if the reports are true, it may signal the return of a dire wolf, or another prehistoric wolf.
