Chapter 4: Alpha's, Omega's, Beta's and Human's

1866 Words
As Hope was walking to her Sociology class today, she knew it was going to be eventful. Today they are to talk about their essay on sub-genders. She has no idea why a history class is needed in Sociology, but here they are. As she enters the room and makes her way to a seat, she smells a familiar scent. Looking around to see where it's coming from, she spots the three Alpha's, the ones she and Victoria keep bumping into. "Great! This day is only getting better," Hope said to herself. She didn't notice them in the first class but her and Victoria didn't meet them until after her first class either. Now she was going to try and find a seat that they couldn't see her, at least right away because everyone had to be speaking today because participation in class was apart of their grades. Before long, the professor was turning on the mic to begin the class. He had four helpers with him, all holding mics. Hope's hands begin to sweat at the thought of having to speak into that mic and having the three Alpha's realizing, she was in their class. Hope quickly got out her phone, and texted Victoria. Hope: UGH!! Guess who is in my class that I didn't realize until the 2nd day of class? Victoria: Please tell me it's not the three Alphas Hope: Well.... its the three Alphas :(.... Victoria: NO!!!! OK, after class, I am going to race over to your class so we can walk together to the cafeteria. Hope: You really don't have to. I would rather you waited for me at the cafeteria. Victoria: HOPE.... Hope: Please it would make me feel better, plus we can call each other and if anything happens, at least one of us can call for help. If they use their Alpha's voice on both of us, we are both in trouble. Victoria: OK, I see your point, but just as soon as the professor ends your class you had better call me. Hope: Ok, Ok, I will, I promise you! Hope put her phone away and took out her essay she had written because he was going to take it up after they discussed the topic. "Good Morning Class." The professor said. "I take it we are all ready to talk about sub-genders." He paused waiting for a response from the students. " OK, let's get started, let's start with the humans. Since they don't have a sub-gender, let's talk about why its hard for them to be with wolves." The class begins to discuss how humans don't have heats or ruts and its hard for an Alpha or Omega to relate to their needs. Because they aren't as s****l as wolves are, and it's hard for them to endure their partners' heat or ruts. If they do, they normally end up in the hospital from major dehydration, and their bodies just aren't built to have s*x that many times in a short amount of time. Also, it's hard to make humans apart of a pack because they normally like to have one partner, but there are some who do join packs and the pack and can make it work. The class also discussed how it's hard for a human to carry a half-bread. Most have many problems during pregnancy, but for the most part, the babies turn out healthy and happy, but once mated with a wolf, their children will also be wolves. Most turn out to be Beta's but a fair amount present like Alpha's or Omega's. Then they moved on to Beta's. Hope just knew that things were about to go down. She knew she had to participate in this section. "Now, let's talk about Beta's." The professor said "Can they take a knot even though they can't have heats or ruts." A Beta student raised his hand. "The females can take the knots but the males must be extra careful with the knots. That is if they are into that male on male action." "Correct. Now tell us why do many think Beta's are a third wheel and in the majority of packs they are only there to help raise the young and to calm down the pack when things get out of hand?" Hope raised her hand and stood up. "Yes, you." The professor pointed to Hope. This was the moment she dreaded. She knew the three Alphas would see her now. " Betas aren't craved when it comes to heats and ruts because it takes a lot to breed us. We get pregnant or impregnate like humans do. Since we don't have heats and ruts, our reproductive systems aren't as quick as an Alpha or Omega. So many Alpha's and Omega's treat Betas like a third wheel. Also, our scent is always on the calming side, not too sweet, not too bold to entice an Alpha or Omega for breeding." "Correct!" The professor said and moved on to the next question. Hope looked at the Alpha section and saw three pairs of eyes looking at her. She smiled and gave her attention back to the professor, but the rest of the class could feel their eyes on her. "Now on to the Omega's." For thirty more minutes they talked about heats and ruts with Alphas and Omegas. "Now we have the foundation of sub-genders, we are now going to talk about the sociology of it all. Packs, bonding and mating. Each class we will go into depth on relationships. What is acceptable and what isn't acceptable. Dos and Don't of relationships. I encourage you to find a partner to study with. This class isn't going to be as easy as one may think." The professor said, "Also, you can sit anywhere you would like after today. This was just for this assignment. Class dismiss." "Great!" Hope thought out loud. Now she was going to have to wait until the three Alphas sat before she did, because she just knew they would try and sit with her. Hope tried to rush to get her things together so she could get on the phone with Victoria like she asked her to. Although she was too late, as three Alphas stood before her. "I think we got off on the wrong foot. I would like it if maybe we could start over." The Alpha said that she had tripped over. "Plus, I can smell you are somewhat afraid of us. Sorry, that was never our intention.", He said. Then he stuck his hand out for her to shake. "Hi, my name is Nicolas, and this is my friends Sergio and Josh." He pointed to the two on his left and right. Hope looked at his hand and then looked at him and the two standing beside him. "Hi, my name is Hope." She said as she took his hand. Right then she felt the same energy from his hand as she had when she took Victoria's hand yesterday after lunch. "I am sorry if my friend and I offended you yesterday, we meant no harm." "Its OK," Sergio said "I should be apologizing too. I lost my tone with both of you and I know that must have made you both worried. I didn't mean to start to speak in my Alpha voice." "The same goes for me," Josh said. "If you wouldn't mind and let us walk you to the cafeteria and apologize to your friend as well?" Hope looked dumbfounded at them for a minute and her phone started to vibrate. Hope: Hello, Victoria: Hey, you didn't call me when class was over. I was starting to worry. Hope: Oh, I am sorry. Also, I have a surprise for you. You are going to want to see this. I'll be right there. OK? There was a long pause on the other line. Victoria: OK, but hurry please, I need my other half with me. They both laughed and hung up. " OK, but no funny business. If Victoria forgives you, then I will too." Hope said. "Then let's hope that we find favor in her eyes. Lead the way." Nicolas said, and moved aside so Hope could lead them to the cafeteria. The walk was manly silent, just a few polite statements about the weather and the college. Victoria was pacing back and forth on top of the steps to the cafeteria. One could smell the worry coming off her from 500 feet. "Hey!" Hope said, walking up to her and giving her a hug, trying to calm her down. "What are they doing here?" Victoria said, getting even more aggravated. " OK, they came to apologize. Are you OK? You seem a little warm." Hope said. "Oh, I am sorry. I didn't mean to snap. I have been worried ever since you texted me," Victoria said. "If I may, and please forgive me if I am speaking out of turn, but you smell like your going into pre-heat." Nicolas said. Victoria paused and seemed to be thinking about what he was saying. "Crap!! I think your right! Ugh!! No wonder Alphas have been approaching me all day. Then you texted me and it made me feel worse." Victoria said. "Oh, I am sorry Victoria, I didn't mean to make you worry." Hope said, holding Victoria tight, trying her best to calm her down. "If I may, as well. First I must apologize about yesterday. I didn't mean to speak in my Alpha voice. Also, if you would like, we can escort you around for the rest of the day and tomorrow if you would like," Sergio said. "We promise no funny business," Nicolas said. Victoria looked at them. "I must apologize as well. I didn't mean to use my Alpha voice either. We all felt bad after you both left us yesterday. We didn't mean to come off as Alphas who take what's in front of them." Josh said. Victoria looked at them and then looked at Hope. She took a deep breath. "Would you like to join us for lunch?" Victoria said, looking at the three Alphas. "I take it that's a yes on forgiving us and we would love to join you for lunch," Nicolas said. Victoria blushed and shook her head. "Just don't be all old school taking without asking." Hope said. "Deal!" The Alphas said in unison. "Not trying to be old school here, but you can wear my jacket for protection in the cafeteria so we don't invade your space while you get lunch." Josh said as he handed her the jacket. Victoria took the jacket and put it on. "Thank you, very much." The Omega said. Victoria turned to Hope and took her arm giggling while leading the way to the cafeteria. The three Alphas behind them smiling proudly at their new friendship. Years later they would laugh and talk about how they made forgiveness too easy for the Alphas that day. It was an ease in which one day four of them would, one day, wish they could relive again. Although for now their main concern was college and Victoria's heat coming up.
