Chapter 14: Mating

From that night of the pack meeting, things didn't get any better for Hope. She now ran on auto pilot, keeping her Beta at bay so anything the pack said or did wouldn't affect the Beta anymore than it already had. Her days now start at 5am. Hope would get up, get ready and make their breakfast, pack their lunches. She herself would hardly eat and her weight showed. None of the pack even noticed, not even Nicloas, the one who used to be so vigilant about her eating habits. After making their lunches and setting out their dry cleaning, she would leave before they got up and arrive at the office by 7am. Hope made sure there were no morning surprises, so they could enter into an office that wasn't filled with chaos. Hope would then do all of her work that was needed to be done at the office and at 12 pm, she would pass out their lunches. Trying to make sure they wouldn't complain about her not touching them she would then give them a kiss and leave to do all the pack errands.

Once she was home, she would clean the house, make dinner and be presentable enough for them when they got home. Once they were home, Hope would eat her first and only meal with them sometimes, not all the time, because she could barely stomach eating with them. Then, after dinner, she would make sure the dishes and kitchen were clean. Then she would gather all the clothes that they wore that day and separate the laundry from the dry cleaners, do the laundry and be back in her room by 9pm when she was too tired to cry and would just crash and fall asleep.

Even though the pack had given everyone the go ahead to mate, they were all busy with a new design that was coming out in the next month, so they hadn't really had the time to even scent one another, much less visit the pack room. Even Katie and Josh both took suppressants for their heat and rut because neither would be able to be out for four days, much less two out for four days. Hope was over joyed when she heard they were going to take suppressants because she didn't know how she was going to respond to any of them when they wanted to get intimate with her. That was up until one night Sergio came to her room.

"Knock, knock" Sergio said.

"Come in". Hope was lying in her bed about to turn off the lights to go to sleep when he knocked.

"Hey, can I lay with you?" the Alpha asked. Hope knew what that meant, and like she had been on auto pilot she shook her head. Yes. The Alpha shut and locked the door and Hope's heart fell. She thought if she pulled this off she needed to win some acting award. Sergio pulled back the covers and laid down beside her, pulling the covers back over her. "I have missed you so much," Sergio said. Hope wished she didn't feel as bitter as she did, but all she could think was he was lying and she got a funny feeling in the pit of her stomach. So she decided to play along, everything he said she was going to say back.

"I missed you too." She kissed the tip of his nose and felt this sick feeling in her gut.

"Can we make love tonight?" Sergio said as he scented her. Hope did everything in her power not to freeze because she really didn't want to be scented.

"Of course baby." the words rolled off her tongue like a sickness in Hope's mind. She knew at that moment the only thing she would do was to switch to auto-pilot, cover her Beta up and give the Alpha what he wanted. "How about I ride you tonight?" Hope said as she started to kiss the Alpha's neck. That was one of the only ways she could think of to keep him from her scent and her Beta covered.

"Mmmm.. my Beta wants to ride me well." Sergio said as he pushed her face into his neck, wanting more from her touch. Hope's Beta peeked out of the corner that she had permittedly placed herself in.

"Just do me one little favor please," Hope said as she kissed his chest while unbuttoning his shirt, rubbing his chest, trying to make him forget who he was making love to.

"Anything baby," Sergio said as he ran his hands thru her hair.

"Don't call me Beta." Hope paused, looking up at him. Sergio gave her a look of surprise.

"Why?" He paused, pulling at her chin to look at him in the eyes.

"I just want it to be us tonight and if you call me by my Beta, then I might ask you to mate me. Victoria and I have always said we would mate first. Every since college we have had this agreement." Hope said she wasn't lying about the mating, her first mate being Victoria. They have had that promise since they fell in love in college. She was just using it as a cover so she wouldn't have to use any emotions for tonight. Sergio agreed, he couldn't see any harm it would cause not calling Hope, Beta.

Hope smiled and gave him a long passionate kiss. It may sound a little egoistical of her, but she was so thankful she was good at kissing at that moment to keep Sergio from thinking she was just sleeping with him out of duty and not because of want. Then she began to trail off to the Alpha's jawline, down to his neck, chest and stomach. Unbuttoning and pulling his zipper down from the Alphas, revealed how hard he already was. Hope was glad and she already had a plan so she could get through this untouched by the Alpha and it would be all her doing the touching.

"Can we go shower now?" Hope asked.

"Sure baby are you tired?" Sergio asked. Hope shook her head and he helped her out of bed. "You go shower and I'll clean the bed." Hope smiled, kissed Alpha and hopped out of the bed, pulling her pants up and getting a new set of pajamas. After the shower and she was dressed, she went back into her room and saw Sergio was finishing making up the bed. "Already done?" He asked.

"Yes, you wore me all out, Daddy." Hope said, smirking, trying to keep the same energy that she was giving the Alpha, in hopes that he would let her sleep alone.

"Ok, baby. Do you want me to cuddle with you before you go to sleep?" he said, kissing her forehead.

"You go shower and if I am still up we can cuddle when you get back." Hope said as she leaned up to kiss him. He rubbed her cheek and she leaned into his touch.

" OK, baby, if your asleep when I get back I'll leave you be." He smiled. Thank goodness Hope, thought. After he walked out the room, she turned off all the lights and quickly got into bed. The next thing she hears is her name, but she only moans and then the door shuts. Her eyes opened and she never felt so free. She almost broke down and sobbed, but she was really tired and 5 am came too soon.

The next day, Hope overslept, which meant today was going to be a b***h to catch up on all she needed to do. She got up and got dressed. The house smelled different. She couldn't put her finger on it but it smelled like two fragrances into one. She looked all around and it seemed to be coming from the pack room. She didn't want to disturb anyone, so she decided to cook a simple breakfast and go. She sat out fruits, bagels, different kinds of spreads, made some eggs and made coffee. She filled the dishwasher, hit the start button and went off to work.

Lucky she made it to the office by 7am, so maybe today wasn't going to be that bad after all. Although when her pack got to the office they were full of buzz. Katie came bouncing into her office. "Hope guess what? Victoria mated with Josh!" Hope didn't think her heart could break anymore, but the pieces that were even slightly together just shattered. What about their pack? What about being each other's first? They had always agreed they would be each other's first. Victoria had always told Hope she would be her first mate, since she was the first one she met in the pack. Hope had no idea what was going on. Was everything a lie?

Hope, thought about a night that happened five years ago....

"I have it all planned out," Hope said, as she and Victoria lay entangled together after making love.

"What's that baby?" Victoria said, kissing and sucking on her neck.

" When we mate," Hope said. Rubbing Victoria's back as she talked and Victoria explored her body with her lips.

"And just what is the plan?" Victoria said, pausing her expedition looking up at Hope.

"Well, we will go out for a nice dinner, and then come home and do the deed." Hope wiggled her eyes and Victiora laughed. "Then afterwards we will get in our matching pajamas and all week long watch movies and make love whenever, wherever and however we want. The rest of the pack can't say anything to us." Hope stated.

"Just what number of mate, will I be?" Victoria asked.

"I don't know what number you want to be?" Hope asked in return.

"First, I want to be your first mate. I want all my first times with you, because you have proven over and over again that being the first is nothing but an adventure. I never want the adventure to stop." Victoria said, looking into Hope's eyes that were now glistening with tears.

"I would like that very much, better yet I would love that," Hope said as she connected their lips together. That night they made love until they couldn't even keep their eyes open to kiss one another.

Present time....

All their plans now seemed as if they were nothing to begin with but a piece of trash, because that was where Victoria had thrown them. Hope had already brought their matching pajama set for the day afterwards and had been looking up restaurants they could go to for dinner. There was just no way this could be true. She wouldn't believe it until she herself saw evidence that Victoria hadn't been true to her word.

At 12, as always, she went to give each of her pack members their lunch. There in Josh's office, the two of them in each others arms with a mating bite on their glands. It was them this morning that smelled different. They smell like one another now. They both smiled and she congratulated them both, but Victoria never said anything to Hope about their mating promise.

Hope really didn't know how much more she could take not feeling like she was a part of the pack. Sergio, knowing about Victoria and Hope's pack for mating, the Alpha went and checked on Hope. She dismissed him and told him not to worry, and that they made that pack when they were young and she didn't hold Victoria to keeping it. Sergio wasn't sure if he believed her, but knew that Hope would speak out if she felt like an outcast. Although Hope had many times spoken out, it was just that nobody was listening to her.

Things didn't stop there. Before the end of the month, Victiora had mated with everyone except for Hope. Victoria wouldn't even give her a moment just for the two of them to talk. She always had an excuse; being working or going out with one of the pack members. Hope's Beta was already depressed. Now Hope had become depressed as well. She thought long and hard about what she was to do. She even tried talking to Nicolas again but he dismissed her for the third time. Hope knew what she had to do and, as much as she loved them, she knew staying with them would do more harm than good. She had to leave them, for her Beta to heal and, more importantly, for herself to heal.
