Mia sat alone at a quiet restaurant, checking the time on her phone for the third time.
Ryan was late.
She sighed and put her phone down. She had been waiting for almost an hour when the restaurant door opened.
Her eyes immediately went toward the entrance.
Ryan walked in.
But he wasn't alone.
A girl walked beside him, laughing at something he had said. Ryan leaned closer to her as they made their way toward a table.
Mia stared at them, her heart sinking.
Then Ryan looked up.
Their eyes met.
He froze.
Mia slowly stood from her table.
“Ryan.”
His expression changed instantly.
“Mia, I can explain—”
“Don't.”
She picked up her bag.
“I think you've already explained enough.”
She walked away without looking back.
The next morning, Mia arrived at the dojang earlier than usual.
Tracy was already there.
“You're early,” Tracy said.
“I needed somewhere to put my energy.”
Tracy studied her face.
“What happened?”
“Ryan.”
Tracy immediately understood.
“Say no more.”
Mia tied her belt tightly and stepped onto the mat.
“Let's train.”
For the next hour, she barely spoke.
She trained harder than usual, repeating her techniques until exhaustion began to replace the thoughts in her head.
When training ended, Mia wiped the sweat from her face and looked at herself in the mirror.
She wasn't going to let Ryan become a distraction.
There were more important things ahead.
Later that afternoon, Mia sat behind her desk at MGS Legal Services, going through the files for her new case.
Patricia placed another folder in front of her.
“That's everything.”
Mia opened it.
The case involved a businessman accused of bribery and corruption.
She scanned the documents carefully, marking important details with a pen.
Her relationship was over.
Her mind was clearer.
And now she had something else to focus on.
Winning.
She closed the file.
“Let's get to work.”
