CHAPTER FIFTY Owen At an hour to midnight, Tia and I left the cabin. It was a windy day, the shimmering stars illuminated the sky, accompanied by the shining moon, as I drove to our destination, moonflare and ashstones our only companions. We drove in silence but my mind was loud. Beside me, Tia stared out the window, absentmindedly taping her hands against her laps. Despite our situation, she was the definition of calm, it radiated off her like the smell of an ocean. I envied her.
