The door burst open. A tall doctor in a white coat hurried in, different from the one I’d spoken to the day before. He moved with calm authority, but his eyes held deep concern.
“Hello, Miss Amanda. Can you see me clearly?” He leaned in, checking my pupils with a small flashlight.
“Yes… I’m fine. What am I doing here?”
“Please lie back for me. I need to examine you.”
I hesitated, then slowly reclined against the pillows. He checked my eyes again, listened to my heartbeat, took my blood pressure, and ran through a series of quick neurological tests. His movements were precise and practiced. Finally, he pulled up a chair and sat close to the bed.
