From then on Sara never talked much to Kallie. Didn’t ask about dates or school or life in general. Kallie lost touch with her mother on her 16th birthday. It broke Kallie’s heart to think about.  When things finally seemed like they were getting better it was because Sara wanted to “make amends”. She had recently found out she was dying of some pretty nasty cancer that Kallie couldn’t remember the name of. Kallie had just turned 18 at the time and was going to move out and start figuring out what she wanted to do with her life. Figures that then was the time that Sara decided to change.  Sara had pulled through for a long time after that. She was deteriorating but she was still alive. Towards the end of the 4 year battle she was bed bound. No longer able to help herself. She had an at home nurse coming in at all times of the day to medicate her, feed her, bathe her, and change her. Kallie would take her evening strolls because of the overpowering stench that her mother’s body was producing. She smelled rotted.  Kallie had spent all this time preparing but nothing really could’ve prepared her for how her mother really died. It was something entirely different than what was expected. How was she ever going to get over what she saw. What is that monster that could do som… “Did you hear me?!” handsome screamed at me.  “What? No, sorry, i was thinking,” I hurriedly replied.  “There’s no time. We have to leave. It’s followed me here. And it knows where you are too. We need to get out of this godforsaken town.” The fear in his eyes struck panic into Kallie’s heart. If this stranger, that had such a strong and foreboding presence, was so terrified of this creature, she sure should be as well. Kallie jumped to her feet and looked to the stranger for direction.  He reached his hand out to her and before she took it she said one thing.  “Tell me your name and I’ll go with you.”  “My name is Ethan, but you already know me.”  Kallie gasped as she realized the connection, that had nagged her earlier, was finally brought to light.
