Chapter 2

I woke up to the sound my alarm and the girls groaning. I quickly reached over to my phone and turn it off, before checking the messages on my phone. I got a few messages from my mum wishing me good luck today, another few notification from apps, and a reminder of orientation day. Sitting up, I texted my mum back and turned off my notification before folding the blanket and placing it over the pillow. I tried my best to tiptoe out of my room to not wake everyone up, but failed when I unlocked the door. "Hey, you're leaving?" Sam asked. I nodded "Yeah, I have to get ready and talk to the landlord. There's an issue with the room, that's why I slept over last night" She nodded. "I will pass by your room later for orientation? we can get ready together" she suggested. "No, it's fine. I'll come to your when I'm ready" I told her. There was no reason for Sam to worry about me rooming with two strangers right now. I just have to solve the issue before her and my parents find out. "Okay" She said "I'll see you later" "Don't sleep in" I warned her before leaving to my room down the hall. When I got to the room, the door was cracked open already and the lights were on. Realizing that they were smart enough to leave the door open for me since I didn't take my keys, I pushed the door open as I held my breath. Noah was standing next to the door, he was pushing the empty suitcases into the hallway closet while Nathan was on the couch using his phone. "Good morning" Noah said. "Morning" I said quietly "Do you mind if I take a quick shower?" He chuckled "Honey, you don't have to ask me to use the shower, this is your apartment too" he said. "For now" Nathan said from the couch. "Thanks" I mumbled to Noah before walking into the apartment. I walked over to my closet, took out my cloths and towel before heading to the bathroom. I made sure to lock the door behind me, took a really quick body shower rather than a full one, washed my teeth and got ready in there. Since it was orientation day and I really wanted to go the extra mile and look cute and comfortable, I decided on a white t-shirt with a line art piece I made earlier this year, tucked it into my light washed mum jeans with a back belt, then slipped on a light brown cardigan. I ended up tying my curly brown hair into a low low bun, before pulling out a few strands to frame my face. When I realized I had a few minutes to go, I pulled my makeup bag from under the sink and did the best I could do in 10 minutes. I brushed and filled in my brow, drew on a brown wing over my eyes, a light coat of mascara, then applied a little maroon tint on my cheeks and lips. When I got out of the bathroom, I was hit with the smell of eggs and toast. Nathan was still seated on the couch on his phone, while Noah was in the kitchen making eggs. "Do like your eggs plain?" Noah asked "Or seasoned with black pepper?" "You don't have to make me some" I told him "I will just grab something after orientation" He turned and smile at me "I'm already here. So, seasoned or plain?" he asked again. "Seasoned with extra salt please" I told him. He nodded then turned around. After I placed my cloths in the hamper in my closet, I slipped on my black socks then made my way to the kitchen next to Noah. I didn't want to be awkward and useless by sitting on the bed with my phone, and I felt a bit uneasy sitting next to Nathan on the couch. "Can I help you with something?" I asked. "Could you set the table?" he asked "Everything is in the top right cupboard" I nodded before setting the table for three. "You got a last name Alex and an actual name for that matter?" Noah asked. "Alexia Miles" I told him "Most of the people I know call me Alex through" "Ours is Williams" Noah said. I nodded not sure of what to say next. "It's our freshmen year too" Noah said "I'm studying architecture, and Nathan is majoring in business law and monitoring in finance" He then turned to me with a thinking expression "You look like you're an English Major. Am I right?" he asked. "She look more of a Theater person" Nathan said from the couch. "Neither, Collaborative and a minor in digital art Digital Art and Design" I told him, I pointed at the box next to my dresses "Would've been easier to figure out if I finished packing" The breakfast talk wasn't as awkward as I excepted it to be. Noah kept making conversations to get to know each other more the whole time. He was as a friendly and polite as they come. I knew I shouldn't, but I couldn't help not to admire him as he talked; His manners were not the only things that was nice about him, his looks were too. His light tan made him look like he went to the beach often, short brown hair always looked well maintained, his hazel eyes always looked bright and happy, fill pink lips that always grabbed my attention, and a well shaped body. Nathan share some of his brother features. His body was well built as well, lips less fuller and darker share of pink, green eyes a shade of emerald, his hair longer and darker than his brother's, and skin slightly darker and had more of a yellow undertone to it. I couldn't help not look over some of his brushes, he had a few of them scattered around his upper arms and some where peaking out of his shirt whenever he moved around. 10 minutes after we finished, Noah's phone rang. "Mathew, how are you? are you here already?" he greeted and asked. He then went quiet for a few seconds before pulling the phone off his ear and placing it on speaker and on the table in front of him. "I just got off the phone with the office and I managed to get a few information" the man on the phone said "The secretary has informed me that the apartment vacancy has been advertised for a none specific gender that is willing to share a room with no gender specification in the fine print on the advertisement and the sighed lease. The email use for the application came from an email under the name Alex Miler, and the office assumed it was male when it was male when they distributed the late applications that passed the deadline, thus, she was placed with you two. "Is there anything we can do about his?" he asked. "Honestly, Son, my hands are tied here. I went through the vacancies in the building, but no females room are available. There's only one other vacancy in the fourth floor with two male students as well" He said "I also made a few calls around the building next to yours, but they are full" A moment of silence passed before he spoke again "I think the best option for your friend right now is to just stay with the lease she currently has for the year since she already paid the deposit and the rent for it, rather than find a different apartment. At this point, most of the building are full and anything available is an hour away or not student appropriate" he suggested "However, I will keep an eyes on the vacancies if anything changes, and if by the end of the lease you still want to change room but stay in the building, I will keep you top priority and move you in one of the future vacancies" "Alright, thank you, Mathew! I will call you back by tomorrow to let you know if anything happens" Noah said. "No problem, give your parents my best regards" he said. "Will do" Noah said before hanging up. "Did you even read the lease, Alex? or gave it to your parents to read?" Nathan asked. "I... I... I don't remember" I said on the verge of crying "I was on the wait list and by the time I got my letter, I was rushing things and trying to find a place off campus to live and I... I... do.. don't remember anymore" "There's no need for the attitude right now" Noah said, he then reached over to me rubbed my back "What do you want to do about this?" "I don't know" I told him "I don't know" Nathan snorted as he got up and moved to his bed to get his things "I'll see you at lunch" he said before shutting the front door behind him. Noah leaned against the chair "Don't mind him" he said "He've been cranky because of the flight and the moving process" The door then opened again and Alex walked in confused "What's up that guy's ass and why did he just come out of your room" Sam asked as he walked in. I dabbed at the corner of my eyes then wrapped arms around myself "I told you, I'll come to your room when I'm ready" I told her. She slowed down confused when she saw Noah "You took too long" she said unsure "I wanted to meet your roommates as well" I let out a small sarcastic chuckle "You just did" I told her "I missed up with the lease" Noah let out a small chuckle "I've known for less then 12 hours and managed to be the reason you cried twice" he joked. I gave him a small smile. Sam leaned against the table next to me and looked at Noah. "Right" I said "Sam, this is Noah and the person you just saw leaving is his brother Nathan. Noah, this is Sam, she's my best friend that lives down the hall" She gave Noah a small uneasy smile. "Did you talk to the landlord?" she asked. I nodded "Either I say or find somewhere else that most probably out of the budget and further from here. There's no other rooms available" "You can stay with us" she offered. "I can't sleep on the couch for the rest of the year" I told her. "Alex, if you are worried about us, I promise we are harmless" Noah said "You don't have a reason to be worried" Sam looked at him annoyed "Doesn't everyone say that. I mean she literally doesn't know and about to move in with two strangers that are males. How the f**k is she... we supposed to know that you are not a serial killer, how is she supposed to feel comfortable sleeping and knowing that she is safe and won't get s****l harassed by two hormonal teenagers" "Sam" I said as an attempt to stop her from snapping at Noah further. He chuckled "I don't think I'm even considered as a teenager, anymore" he said "You really don't have to be worried about in any type of harassment way or in anyways related. You're not my type" I looked at him offended because he was certainly my type and I was developing a tiny crush on this guy. "So now my best friend is not pretty enough for you?" Sam said annoyed. He chuckled "She's pretty, but I don't play for your team" he said then leaned back "If that wasn't clear enough, I'm gay" Both Sam and I looked at him dumbfounded. "We still have the other one to be worried about" Sam said. "I promise that I will never leave you alone with him in the room till she is comfortable to do so on her own" he said "I will even switch beds with you or make him sleep on the couch for a few days till you get comfortable" Was it wrong that I still had a crush on him knowing that he was gay. "And my couch and bed as always there if you need it" she said. "Thank you! both of you" I said with a small smile. Sam turned to Noah, suddenly nicer to him "Do you want to walk us to orientation?" she asked. "Sure, I just need a minute or two" he said before getting up to the bathroom. Alex then turned to me with a smirk "You said no guys during freshman year" "I did" I told him. "He's hot" he pointed out. "And gay" I pointed right back. She then turned to the door "His brother is hot too" she said. "And an asshole too" I sighed. She then chuckled as she shook her head "This is going to be so entertaining"
