Derek’s chest was rising and falling. I couldn’t really tell what had made him so angry that he smashed his phone against the wall. My hands were cold. I didn’t know what to do, but I guess he noticed how scared I was. He quickly tried to soften his face a little and forced a smile, walking over and sat next to me at the edge of the bed.
