CHAPTER TWO EMINENT'S POV “Crack his bones,” Eminent ordered calmly from the far end of the room. A sharp crack split the air as the guard snapped the man’s fingers. “Ahh!” The man screamed, collapsing in agony. “Who sent you?” Eminent asked, rising from the far end of the room and stepping closer, his eyes cold and unreadable. The man remained silent. “Still not ready to talk?” A slow smile tugged at the corner of Eminent’s lips. “Cut his fingers," he ordered his guard. “I will talk! It's Caesar!" The man cried. “Good,” Eminent said, his voice calm and deadly. "That's why I would cut off your fingers and send them back to Caesar.” “Boss, your father and grandmother are here,” Sapphire, Eminent right-hand man, announced as he stepped in. “Take care of him,” Eminent ordered, walking away. His gaze sharpened, cold and calculating. Eminent looked around the dungeon. Only his men knew about this place. He strode into the main lounge, greeting his grandmother warmly while deliberately ignoring his father, who sat imposingly. His heart warmed at the sight of her. “Eminent you look so pale. Are you okay?” his grandmother asked. “Grandma, I'm okay,” Eminent replied softly, his eyes filled with affection. "About the marriage proposal,” his father’s cold voice cut through the warm moment. Eminent's jaw tightened as his father spoke. The warmth in his eyes disappeared instantly. His eyes met his grandmother's, who gave him a quiet look, urging him to calm down. He took a deep breath. "You will get married to Vanessa Lungeman,” his father said firmly. “No,” Eminent said coldly, his eyes blazing with anger. “Eminent,” his grandmother called him leaning forward. "It was a decree from your grandfather, meant to end the rivalry between your father and the other family,” his grandmother said calmly. Eminent kept quiet; he had always known he was betrothed to the Lungeman but he never took it seriously. "Not her," Eminent said through gritted teeth, his eyes dark with anger. “Do you know the consequences of not marrying her?” his father barked, his eyes filled with fury. “Why must I pay for your foolishness?” Eminent growled, slamming his fist onto the table. “Eminent! I am your father! Don't you dare to speak like that!" his father retorted. “Father?” Eminent's voice thundered across the room. "Where were you when the whole world turned its back on me? Where were you when I was framed and you have the nerve to call yourself my father?” The room grew colder “EMINENT DOMAIN!" his father roared, rising from his chair and stepping closer to him. “ELLIOT DOMAIN!” Eminent's voice thundered across the room as he closed the distance, his gaze sharp as knives. The air in the room thickened, colder with every step, as if the walls themselves were holding their breath. “I shouldn't have let your mother give birth to you. You are nothing but a thorn in my flesh,” his father said coldly. Eminent's jaw tightened. "And I regret ever calling you my father,” he said through gritted teeth. Eminent!” his grandmother cried, pretending to stumble. His father turned and walked away without another word, leaving her behind. Eminent moved quickly, catching her before she could fall. A soft chuckle escaped him. She still knew exactly how to calm him. It was her usual trick. “Eminent, you have to do this. Do you really want the company you fought so hard to build to slip away?” his grandmother urged. “It could be anyone... just not her,” Eminent said through gritted teeth. The mere thought of her made his blood boil. “I don't know what happened in the past, but you have to do this for me, and for your mother,” his grandmother said softly. Eminent's body tensed, a shiver running down his spine at the mention of his mother. Not long after his grandmother and father left, his gaze moved over the marriage proposal on the sofa. All of this was happening because of him. No words could fathom how much he hated his father. Vanessa Lungeman. The betrayal flashed through his mind. How could he marry the woman who had tried to destroy him? If he refused, the company would be sold off. His grandfather's legacy of everything he had built from nothing. Had he really come this far, only to lose everything? Was he going to disappoint his grandfather and his mother? Marriage to that Jezebel... the very thought made his blood boil. His eyes glinted, a dangerous thought flickering through his mind. He called to his grandmother, his voice calm but sharp. "I accept the marriage proposal.” ***** Days later, Eminent strolled into the family room. This was no lavish ceremony, no flowing gowns, no soft music. Eminent felt the room tense around him. Eminent's gaze flicked to his father and Vanessa's father, their silent stares heavy with unspoken challenge. It felt as if war hung in the room waiting to strike Then his eyes landed on her. Since that day, their path had never truly crossed. As audacious as ever, she held his gaze without flinching. His fingers tightened around the glass, the pressure barely containing the storm inside him. But the thought of her stepping into his world calmed him. A dark promise settled in his mind he would make her life a living hell. A low chuckle escaped him as he caught Vanessa muttering under her breath. No doubt it was a curse meant for him. “All would be settled soon,” he scoffed. Just then, his grandmother's voice cut through the tension, calm yet commanding. “To end the rivalry between our families, the heads of the Lungeman and Domain families, once bound by friendship, made this decree. With this union, both empires will be merged, and the war between us will finally come to an end. She pressed the seal onto the document, finalizing a fate none of them could escape from. **** Finally, they arrived home. Eminent addressed the servants, his voice cold and unforgiving. “No one attends to her. She ’s to be treated like a servant." “Seize her phone and lock her up," Eminent ordered. Sapphire, his right-hand man, stepped forward.
