When Jake arrived at the town hearing, the room was about ¾ full. The mayor asked who would like to speak. A woman in her mid-fifties stood up and walked to the microphone.
“City Council Members, my name is Janet James. I am worried that this place, this Glacier House, will bring in a lot of bad kids. I think we will have to worry about them being a bad influence and an increase in crimes like them stealing, doing drugs, having pregnancies, and well, that they will just be a bad influence. I don’t think we need their types around.”
Jake noted a few heads were nodding up and down. As the woman started to go back to her seat, he noticed Ingrid passing the woman on her way to the podium. Ingrid nodded a greeting.
