“What is the meaning of this son? Why do you treat us as if you don't know us?” David scoffs.
When they get to the front of the pack house, everyone becomes quiet.
“David, why are you treating your mother this way? What have I done to deserve this?” She asks reaching for him but he steps away from her touch.
“Call the elders, tell them it's an emergency,” Charlie nods and turns to go do that.
“This can't be over her? Surely you would not choose a traitor over your own family?” She sneers at me and I smile.
“Silence!” David booms, everyone falls silent.
We are all staring at each other in an awkward silence. David brings Logan and I up to stand next to him. Twenty minutes have passed when the elders finally come.
“What is the meaning of such an urgent meeting?” Elder Tobias asks.
