Chapter 2

1187 Words
As the day trails on I finish my chores up and make my way to my small room to relax for an hour before I have to start dinner for the pack. Maybe if I make something special they will all leave me alone. I have a big test tomorrow and I really need to study. I make my way to my small, closeted room and go to shut my door when I hear my name being shouted. I freeze, Alpha Tom is coming. I close the door and stand outside of it with my head down and fingers intertwined together, trying to calm my racing heart and nerves. “Where do you think you are going?” he says in disgust. I did not answer right away, because I thought it was obvious where I was going. He grabs me by my hair and throws me on the ground and tosses whatever was in his hand at my face. “You did laundry today and you did not iron my dress shirt!? The shirt you knew I was wearing today!” he roars at me and I lay there frozen. The choking feeling in my throat makes it hard to swallow. I feel the tears waiting to be released. “ANSWER ME!?” he screams in my face as he yanks me from the ground. “I…I did not do the laundry today, Alpha.” I say quietly, hoping if I do not speak loudly it will not anger him any further. “So, you are slacking on your chores?” he says so harshly that it makes me wince. “No, Alpha. I was on kitchen duty,” I whispered again. He smacked me so hard I fell to the ground clutching my face. I dare not make a sound or move. “You are responsible for all chores, you think I am a fool? Did you think you could try to pull one over on me like your pathetic parents? Traitor blood runs deep in your veins, you should be licking the dirt off my shoes for even allowing you to stay alive and live in my pack. You pathetic ungrateful girl!” he roars. A tear runs down my face, I quickly wipe it. “If I ever find that one thing is out of place, you will live to regret it. Mark my words, traitor, your days are limited!” And with that, he turns away. I pick up the shirt, run into my room and sit on the bed. I let the tears flow for a moment while I try to gather myself. Not only do I have finals tomorrow, but now I have to wake up early enough to do the laundry. I look at the small broken clock that reads 3 p.m. I have forty-five minutes to get this shirt ironed and put it on the Alpha’s bed before dinner. I sigh, wipe my tears, and stand up. Only four more months, just remember I can leave in four more months. It's 4 p.m. now, I ironed his shirt and pants and set out a fresh set of socks. I hurried to the kitchen to help make dinner for the pack. Nobody said I could not eat today, so I am going to bide my time and keep my head down. I will serve dinner and go back to my room to study. I step into the kitchen, and the Omegas are here working away. I walk over to the older couple that run the kitchen, they have always been nice to me. “Ah, there you are. I was getting worried.” Lana says smiling. She is an older lady who runs the kitchen with her mate, Parker. Her short gray hair sticks out in short spikes, and her blue eyes hold wisdom beyond anything I am capable of understanding. She’s about 5 '4 and slim, she is so beautiful, I only wish to look that good at her age. “Hi, sorry I had to do something for the Alpha.” She nods in understanding. “Oh, hello there. I looked over your menu you set out this morning, and I think we can manage that.” Her mate, Parker, says happily. He’s a tall slim man, about 5 '11, has salt and pepper hair that is cut pretty short, and he also has blue eyes. They are always so happy here. I nod at them both. “Do you mind if I make my special apple pie for dessert? I know the Alpha family enjoys it, and I am hoping if I do this maybe they will forget about earlier.” Lana gives me a small sad smile and nods her head. “Go ahead dear, we have most of the preparation done anyhow. Make it extra tasty.” I smile and turn to fetch the ingredients I need to make it. Everyone is working like crazy to get the dinner out before the Alpha family comes in. I sit the last apple pie on the counter to cool, when I hear the kitchen door open and see Ellie and David stroll in. I gasp and turn to hide behind the carrying cart. It’s full so you can’t see me through it, but I can see them. “Damn, something smells delicious!” David says, turning towards the counter the apple pies are on. “Lana, you sure know how to make a mean apple pie! This looks amazing, and it’s my favorite.” I see Ellie scanning the room, probably looking for me, I sigh in relief as she gives up her search and turns to swoon over David. “Oh, mmmmm.” She moans as she leans over too far to smell them, her t**s almost falling out of her shirt, and her skirt rides up in the back. I see David glance at her backside and smirk. “Make sure to save one for me, Lana. Thank you.” He says nicely to her and she nods and shoos him away. He chuckles and they leave the kitchen. Lana and Parker look over at me and shake their heads. “You know maybe if you told them you made the pie they would, I don’t know, appreciate you better.” She nods towards the pies. I shake my head no. “No, please. Nobody can know I made these. Let it be our little secret.” Lana rolls her eyes but nods. Parker just gives me a sympathetic look and continues to grill the steaks. Once dinner is served, I make myself a small plate and scarf it down. Lana gave me more but I refused. Not wanting to push my luck. This is the most I have eaten in weeks. After I clean up, I make my way to my room. I slide in the door and lock it with the small rusted sliding lock that holds it closed. They could easily break it but to my surprise nobody has. Maybe tonight I can finally study and get a good night's rest.
