The conversation with Tasha had gone smoother than I had anticipated, which was a relief.
When I told her everything in Lila’s presence earlier, her first question was why I had told Lila to keep it from her in the first place.
I had expected that.
“I’m sorry,” I replied, my tone measured.
"At first, I didn’t fully trust you because I knew how loyal pack members are to their Alpha, thinking you might suspect I was up to something... just like Lila did.” I shot Lila a pointed look before returning my gaze to Tasha.
"But in the end, what is friendship without trust? That is why I decided to tell you, hoping you'd believe I mean no harm."
