Bella Spencer's Point of View
I had just woken up from the most wonderful slumber I had since I arrived home early—after dealing with the party preparations, of course. Waking up at this moment knowing that I have this whole summer project-free, REALLY hits different. I feel so ecstatic! That is why, tonight, I am going to celebrate this party as it's the last day of summer. And I took Director Connie's advice; live your life to the fullest and be free.
I received a message from Contessa earlier saying that she had already finished inviting everyone from the same class as us in our college. I felt giddy reading it.
I will enjoy every second that I get to spend with them. And, of course, I don't want any special treatment. I want this party to be like those crazy normal college parties, not a famous friend check party.
And I hope this all goes according to plan.
I have contacted the manager of Le Remie Hotel to have their grand hall reserved for the party that I will be throwing. I've also told Contessa to take care of the food services. While I took charge of the lightings and the DJ for the party.
And because Director Connie told me to be free, I wanted this party to be a 'Wild Welcoming Summer Party' to me and my classmates that would last about five hours. And I am making sure that we would make the most within five hours.
My phone ringed, it made me jump from my bed and disturbing me from my thoughts. I read the caller ID and immediately swiped answer.
"Hey B! I'm already at the party venue and I would lying if I told you that this place isn't astonishing!" my best friend squealed on the other line.
"Just by hearing the tone of your voice, it really is, Tessa. Are there guests already?" I inquired.
"Does the caterers, light directors, and the DJ count as visitors?" she joked. I let out a chuckle.
"No, I mean for real. Are our classmates there already?" I heard her giggle on the other line.
"Of course, silly! Because it's already like... 5:45, and you still aren't here." I suddenly felt pressed. 5:45 and I'm still not ready.
"Bella? You still there?"
"I just woke up, loss track of the time. Guess I have to call you back later, I still need to get dressed." Without waiting for her response again, I immediately ended the call.
I ran towards my wardrobe and scanned my clothes to find the perfect outfit, but it seems like there is no suitable one. My wardrobe contained glittery and sequined designer outfits which won't fit the wild party I'm throwing.
I went on a search inside my pull out drawer and rummaged through my shirts. And in the middle of creating a 'floor-drobe', I found the perfect T-shirt to match any jeans deliberately torn and frayed.
It was a yellow over-sized cotton T-shirt with a print of Von Dutch, to pair it with my favorite faded ripped jeans and my ankle high boots.
I went to my bathroom to freshen myself up. After I was done, I wore the clothes of my choice and looked at myself in the mirror, fidgeting with my hair, I look like a member of a famous rock band. I tied my dirty blonde hair into a messy bun and started putting on light makeup to make myself look fresh.
As I was about to finish, there were loud knocks coming from my door. I quickly ran towards it, opened, just surprised to see my parents with hostile faces, telling me that my driver has been waiting outside for the past ten minutes.
I was pressed, I immediately grabbed the bag I prepared earlier and quickly ran downstairs towards the waiting car. As soon as I got in, I asked for Mr. Calvin's forgiveness for being late.
The drive to the venue didn't take long for we took the shortcut. As soon as I've stepped outside the car, the music was already blasting, the lights were flickering, and my colleagues kept on staring at my arrival.
As I entered the hall, uneasy from their stares, everyone's attention was drawn to me, putting the spotlight on me.
'Bella..'
One voiced echoed the whole room.
'Bella...'
Claps. Whistling. Whooping.
'Bella... Bella... Bella!'
Everyone started to chant out my name like I was a leader of some rebellion. The whole room filled with cheering of my name over and over. The DJ started playing music that put a halt to their cheering.
Everybody was dancing, laughing, eating, and enjoying the night!
Finally, now this is a party.
I was walking to the food booth, trying to look for Contessa. When two of my colleagues approached me.
"Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for inviting us to your party, Bella!" Sarah exclaimed. The curls on her Auburn hair bobbed up and down as she playfully hits Antoinette.
"You got that right, Sarah! And Bella, we are like; big fans of yours, since the first trailer of your series: 'Prove Me Wrong' was out, I became so obsessed with it!" Antoinette says with an appealing tone. She had jet black straight hair and eye glasses on.
I both gave them a welcoming smile. "It is an honor to celebrate this night with you girls. Your presence is a gift and I acknowledge it." I said heart fully. These two girls squealed and asked for a photo with me.
And actually, the whole night seemed to go on like that. Every corner I went, trying to be a normal college girl, I end up with my classmates asking for photographs. It's like the main reason of celebrating this party was dumped because instead I would be enjoying the night with them, its like I became the enjoyment of the night instead.
I don't blame them for it, but at this moment; I really wanted to be treated like their normal classmate and not a photo booth.
At around 8:30pm, I think I already talked to everyone in the room and they started doing the slow dance. I finally grabbed the chance of finding my best friend, but she was still nowhere to be seen.
I stood beside the food booth, asked for a glass of wine. I took out my phone and contacted her, just after three rings, she picked it up.
"Bella, I've been looking all over for you in the party! Where are you?" I sighed.
"I was actually doing the exact same thing! I'm at the food booth, sipping on wine. Care to join me here instead?" I can vision her rolling her eyes at me.
"Fine. I'll be there in two minutes." Before I could reply, she ended the call. I guess me and Contessa are the queens of : 'ending calls without waiting for a reply.'
I was sipping on my wine waiting for the girl to arrive. I looked at my fellow classmates on the dance floor with their partners, it seems like everybody is enjoying the party. Almost everybody. I sighed. I wish I had those slow dances, but they seem like nobody dared to ask me out on the dance floor. Maybe they're afraid that I might reject them. I'm still Bella Spencer for goodness sake! A girl in college, being an artist is just a title, it's not like it's something tha-
"What you thinking about, B? Seems serious." I quickly eyed my surroundings, finding Contessa with a coy look.
She quickly enveloped me in a tight embrace. I hugged her back. The hug lasted about half a minute and we both separated. This girl in front of me looks so dreamy! Contessa came to the party in her red checkered long sleeves, rolled up to her elbows, paired with high waisted pants and boots. She was most likely looking like a cowgirl especially that her brown hair tied up in Dutch braids.
"Nothing serious really. I'm fine." I sighed. She gave me a don't-lie-to-me look.
"Bella, I've known you for almost a decade now! You can't fool me with that fake smile plastered on your face right now. You aren't fine, tell me what's wrong." Alright, I'll give it to her, she really knows how to read my expression. I should be careful with my facial expressions around her.
"Fine, you got me." I sighed, "It's just that, I wanted to be treated normal, I don't want to be treated like a celebrity around you guys, I want to be asked out for a dance, to drink, and you know... what normal things college kids do in parties. I'm still Bella, you know." I felt the heavy burden on my chest vanish, it's really nice to tell someone about your feelings.
"So that's the problem? Let me take care of it." Before I could stop Contessa, she already rushed to the DJ and whispered something to him.
The music was paused that caught everyone's attention. She was holding a microphone and a glass of wine. I shook my head, this girl cares so much.
"Attention everyone! I would like to make a toast to my best friend," She pointed me. "Bella Spencer, for this party and to all of her achievements..." She fixed her gaze on me and gave me a warm smile. "Cheers to Bella!"
"Cheers!"
I smiled at her, she mouthed me 'cheers' and I did the same to her.
"Oh! And she said she wanted to be asked out on a dance! If anyone's interested, she's over there!" She announced pointing to where I was. I felt my cheeks heat up as I saw my male colleagues coming towards my direction. The slow dance music continued playing, I gave Contessa a cheeky look.
"Bella, you should've told me you wanted to dance, I could've took you to the dance floor without thinking twice." My classmate, Sam says.
"But Sam, I'm really sure that Miss Bella would dance with me first." Win implored.
I just giggled when my other classmates started to put on a play fight.
"Guys! Just chill, I'm going to dance with all of you if that's what you wanted." I blurted.
As I thought that I'd end up miserable with the party I've planned, it changed its route when Contessa stepped into the limelight. I had fun with the remaining time of the party, they for once treated me like a normal classmate and I had fun like one.
As the party ended, me and Contessa had a heart-to-heart conversation. I simpered at the thought of it.
Mr. Calvin picked me up from the party venue and when I gave him a call.
As I was seated in the car, I couldn't wait to arrive home and talk to my parents. The drive home didn't take long, after I bid Mr. Calvin my goodbye, I quickly ran inside to the living room and called my parent's attention.
I sat down waiting for them. My heart is racing, I am so excited to talk to them!
"Sweetheart, you called us?" Entering the room was my mom and dad, already in their pajamas. I guess they were ready for bed and I disturbed them but, that doesn't matter now that they're here.
I cleared my throat. "Yes I did. Please have a seat." They were amused by my words. "So mom, dad. Me and Contessa talked about something earlier and I hope you guys would agree on this." I start off.
"What's this about then, Sweetie?" Dad inquired.
I was already grinning, thinking about our conversation earlier.
I took a deep breath and told them every single detail regarding with the conversation I had made with Contessa. They both looked nostalgic and satisfied with the idea.
I felt joyous that I embraced them so tight until they exclaimed to let go. I also gave them a goodnight kiss and then dashed towards my room and phoned Contessa.
"So..?!"
"They agreed!" I screamed.
