Chapter 4: Becoming a Mrs. Stephon had grown up with her as a childhood sweetheart and then became her fiancé. But after the accident, he woke up unable to recall anything about her, thereby mistaking Nelly as his love. The Will family could account for this. However, no one told Stephon the truth, they all aided in helping Nelly lie. And now, she had become the intruder and a troublemaker! Lise couldn't bear the pain in her heart whenever Stephon was mentioned. “Mom, you can't just reverse right and wrong, because of favouritism. I am also your daughter, why don't you care about my feelings? As for Stephon,I have let go. It's not his fault he couldn't remember anything.” She didn't understand how her own mother, who had a blood relationship with her sister, could be so cruel to her. Lise's face was aching with pain. But the pain she felt in her heart was worse. Rennes frowned, looking at her daughter's aggrieved face and said. “ Do you even know you're my daughter? You don't listen to me, I don't know how I ended up with a daughter like you. Nelly is your sister, why can't you let her have this?” Looking at her mother's resolute attitude in protecting Nelly, Lise scoffed, feeling self mocked. “ Here I thought you could help me get justice.” Lise gritted, her eyes stinging. “ Don't worry, I will get married. If you really want to move on from this, don't provoke me anymore. If you push me too far, I'll do anything!” She grabbed her suitcase and left. Nelly was worried. “ Mom, we can't just let her go. She's lying about getting married. She is probably just going to hide and get an abortion.” Rennes sighed. “ Let her be. Even if she does get rid of the baby, do you think the Ford's will accept her back? She and Stephon are over. This is a crucial time for your father, his company is about to go public. We can't afford any negative news. Don't provoke Lise, she's hot headed. It won't benefit you.” Dragging her luggage, Lise arrived at the entrance of the courtyard. Looking at the old wooden door, her eyes turned red. Her grandmother, the only person who was good to her, had passed away about a week ago. She took out her keys to open the door, but it wouldn't budge. What's going on? Lise tried several times, but it wouldn't open. It was late, and she couldn't find a locksmith. So she had to find a place to stay nearby with her luggage in tow. She walked away alone on the cobblestone path. At that moment, a black Rolls- Royce slowly drove past her and eventually stopped in front of the property. The man in the driver's seat got out first and kindly opened the door introducing, “Mr. Xian, this is the property you were interested in. Although it looks old, the interior is well- designed.” The man was a real estate agent, who wanted to sell the property as quickly as he could, to get a generous commission. Louis got out of the car and looked around, before his gaze fell on the couplet at the entrance. It was written by the owner herself, with red characters on a black background, vigorous and bold. “ How long has it been since the old woman passed away?” The agent hurriedly explained. “ To be honest, the old lady passed away a week ago. The family is afraid of being reminded of her. So they are selling it at a low price. Houses like this are symbols of the urban era, and are sold at much higher prices.” Louis frowned and walked inside, not waiting for him to finish. Victor glared at the agent and asked. “ Why are you talking about irrelevant things? Mr. Xian just wanted to know the truth!” Louis looked at the courtyard and finally fixed his gaze on a cherry blossom tree inside. His gaze was deep and intense, in the next second he said firmly. “ Have the owner come over now to sign the contract.” The agent was taken aback. “ Now?” Louis raised an eyebrow. “ Is it not possible?” Victor quickly commanded the agent. “ Mr. Xian’s time is limited. Have her come over to sign the contract as soon as possible.” The agent was overjoyed that the property was sold, even before she had the chance to introduce it. “ Okay, I will contact her now.” On the other hand, Rennes was surprised the property was already sold so quickly, as soon as it was put in the market. The agent told her that if she went over to sign the contract now, it would be sold immediately. Rennes gathered the documents and left. When she arrived, the only person there was Victor. In just 10 minutes, the contract was signed and she received a down payment of two million won. The rest payment would be settled after the property procedures were completed. Outside the Civil Affairs Bureau. Lise was late. She had sat in the hotel for a while, before deciding to come. It took a lot of courage to marry a stranger. She felt uncertain about the future. Her grandmother had told her that she should think and choose carefully who she gets married to. She must find someone who treats her well. That was her grandmother's biggest wish for her to be married, and not mistreated. Thinking of her grandmother's advice, and the man already sitting in the Civil Affairs Bureau hall, her eyes became slightly moist. Marrying him was better than sitting in that house, and letting them casually give her away to any man of their choice. At least she could have control over some things, he was the father of her child, and the child would have a complete family. Ten minutes later, the documents were done. Lise hastily stuffed the little red book into her bag, not wanting to look at it again, nor at Louis. “ I have to sort out something, wait for my call. I will contact you afterwards.” She paused and thought for a moment, then took some money from her bag and handed it to him. “ Take this. Don't spend it recklessly, though it's not much, it will solve your food problem for a while.” With that she left without looking back. Louis raised his eyebrows, looking at the woman and then at the money. Finally he looked at Victor, who was watching the scene with amazement. And asked him with his eyes. “ What's going on?” Victor suppressed a smile, and lowered his head guiltily. On the way back, Victor felt it was necessary to explain to Mr. Xian. “Mr. Xian, should I go and explain it to Miss Lise, about what I said before about not having money. I thought she was a fraud, and said those things in a panic. It's not good for her to misunderstand you.” “No need to explain.” Louis said, looking up with a thoughtful and resolute expression. “ No need?” Victor was taken aback. “ Let her misunderstand. And in the future, you don't need to appear often. Don't let anyone k now of her existence.” Victor understands, and his face becomes serious. “ I understand sir.” Lise returned to the courtyard, and found a locksmith to open the lock. She spent the afternoon, sweeping, cleaning and collecting all of her grandmother's belongings. She placed a photo of she and her grandmother on the bedside table in her room. It was a photo of them together, and looking at her grandmother's kind smile, made her heart ache. Last month her grandmother was full of energy, telling her about a new square dance she learned. And now she was gone, no one at her side. “ Grandma, don't worry. I will walk in my own created path. I have already signed up for next month's fashion designer contest. I promise you, I will bring back the trophy for you.” She didn't know why her grandmother was so obsessed with the trophy. Perhaps she wanted her to succeed, and make those who looked down on her to notice her accomplishments. Especially her mother, Rennes, who always believed she wasn't cut out for fashion. Lacking both skill and talent compared to Nelly. When it was time to take the fashion exam, a year ago. Her grandmother fell ill, her mother Rennes, has asked her to look after her grandmother. But Lise was in her third year. Seeing her grandmother sick, with no one to take care of her. Lise agreed and left school to take care of her grandmother.
