Chapter 38 - Rabbits

Joe.

"So, you over your little thing with Nate now?" Me and Bex are having breakfast, waiting for the others to come down. Nate and Harry are still staying here, and Cal will be here in about half hour. Back to school today, and none of us are looking forward to it.

"What?! Harry! He f*****g told you didn't he!? If you say anything about rabbits infront of Nate, I will never forgive you, understand Joe? I should never of said anything to Harry!" Bex went totally off on one, and I just sat there with a total look of confusion on my face... rabbits?

"What the hell are you on about, rabbits? Bex, I'm on about Nate telling you how he feels finally, and you both thinking you are to blame somehow for Mike's death. Rabbits? What the .... oh f**k no! Bex, no! You still have that? And you used it after the whole Nate, poolside, lounger escapade?" I look at her in shock " and what the f**k has Harry got to do with any of it?"

"Oh s**t, I thought Harry had told you about the rabbit. And I only told him in my deepest hour of vulnerability. Don't you dare say anything ok! So who told you then? Ems? And no, i don't still have it. After you found it, snooping through my drawers, I got rid as i couldnt bare to use it knowing my twin had touched it, so it's a new one. But you know what, lets forget about that ok" Bex is looking very sheepish now.

"Yeah, let's do that... f*****g rabbits, s**t! Anyway, no, it wasn't Ems either, so she knows too huh? It was Nate actually. We had a good chat, he told me some... stuff, and about what occurred, so I'm guessing all is good now yeah? Let's change the subject ok" f*****g rabbits!

Nate came in first, then Harry a minute later.

"What's up fuckers?" Harry saunters in pulling his t-shirt on as he did.

"Not f*****g rabbits I hope" I mutter under my breath, but Harry hears me and spits his coffee out that he's just taken off Bex. He bursts out laughing and looks at Bex. I think I better keep a low profile today.

"Rabbits? Have I missed something" Nate just looks so baffled even I start laughing then, and that's it, me and Harry are done, and we can't stop.

"No, you haven't. They're just being ridiculously childish as usual" Bex covers, and grabs her bag when she hears Cal coming in.

Bex.

"OK let's do this fuckers! Harry, Cal, you come with me, we need to pick up Ems and Jess, so Nate you can go with rabBEX, I mean Bex, you go with Bex, see you at school" I throw my banana at his head and they all run, even Cal, and he has no idea what's going on.

"What the f**k is going on?" Nate looks dumbfounded it's almost funny.

"Nothing, maybe one day I'll pluck up the courage to tell you, but for now, nothing for you to even think about ok?" I smile and we leave. I'll f*****g kill those two when I catch up with them.

School was s**t. Everyone was staring at us, but nobody would say anything... apart from one girl that I didn't know very well, but she actually came up to me and said she was so sorry to hear about Mike, that she didn't know him, but he seemed like a nice guy. Then she left. I hope I see her again, she seemed like my type of friend. Nate wouldn't leave my side, he scowled at people if they stared and got my lunch for me because he knew I wouldn't queue. We tried to keep things as normal as possible, but it was so hard when there was that empty chair in all the classes, and teachers kept calling his name out, then stuttering their apologies. I just need to get out of here.

I'm standing by the car waiting for the guys to come, when I spot Nate walking towards me. I start to feel calm, and climb in to the passenger seat. He can drive us, I don't care where either.

"Bex what's going on? Am I driving this beast?" He grins at me like a little kid.

"Yep, anywhere, just let's go" I hand the keys over and he drives out of the carpark. We head down the coast, and out past the beaches. 45 minutes later, Nate pulls up at a. Quiet beachside cafe.

"Come on, chips, I'm hungry. Then you can tell me all about rabbits, as that's all I've heard today, rabbits, and I need in on the joke" he sees my face and laughs.

"Really? You really want me to embarrass myself by telling you about the rabbit?"

"Oh, its just one rabbit is it? Well we're getting somewhere at least. Is it a real rabbit, or stuffed," He's smirking now.

"It's more kind of... rubber... and battery operated" oh god, why!

"Ahhh! So it's that kind of rabbit! So why is Harry and Joe ripping you about it? Oh, did they catch you?" Now he looks really interested.

"f**k no! They found out i f*****g used it after our little poolside episode!" s**t! I just told him I f****d my vibrator because he got me horny.

"Seriously?! Well now I feel 10 f*****g feet tall"

He grins like a Cheshire cat and bounces off to get chips. I drop my head on to the table and wish I could just evaporate. What the f**k.

"See any rabbits on your drive?" Harry blurts out as we walk in to the kitchen.

"OK, I think Bex can keep her rabbit habits to the privacy of her own room, don't you guys? I'm pretty sure you don't want to know about any more rabbit stories involving your twin right" I grin at them both when their jaws hit the floor. They weren't expecting me to know anything about it.

"Yes dudes, I told him, or rather blurted it out. So now it's out in the open, we can move on and never hear of this again right?" Bex stands with her hands on her hips staring hard at them.

"Yeah ok" they both mumble and walk out to the pool. Bex turns and starts to head out of the kitchen when I stop her in her tracks with what I say next.

"Although, I'd really like to hear much more of these rabbit stories Bex, preferably with me involved" I throw a nut up in the air, catch it in my mouth, wink at her and head after the guys. I'm getting a bit cocky and confident, but that was a major ego boost hearing that she used a vibrator after our encounter. So I wasn't the only one turned on and needing release.

"She told you?!" Joe is shocked and I just laugh.

"Yes Joe, she told me. Everything. Although I didn't give her much choice, or rather you two didn't, ripping her about it all day. But listen, you both know what happened, all of it now, the private bits too, but don't read anything in to it. Mike has only just gone, she's heartbroken and confused, that's why all of this has come about ok. So let's just leave it at that and get back to how we were, as much as possible anyway" They both nod their heads and we chill by the pool for the rest of the day.

Later that evening I grab Nate and ask him to come for a walk. Joe and Harry are watching football, but I can't concentrate on it.

"Yeah sure, let's go" he grabs my hand and we leave. We walk for a bit, over the cliff paths, where we go running, then I speak.

"I don't know what's going on here Nate, but whatever it is, I can't think about it right now. I loved Mike so much, still do. Just because he's gone, I won't stop loving him. But I realise there is something between us, something strong, and I'm not sure of what that is. Whether it's because I'm looking for security, or if it means more. I was really f*****g turned on by the pool that day, I won't deny that, and it confused the hell out of me. But I can't give any more, not yet. Do you understand?" I stop and look at him. I expected to see hurt behind his eyes, but I just see sadness, and love, lots of love. He pulls me in to a hug and I rest my head on his chest. He kisses the top of my head and says...

"Bex, I love you, you know that. I've been in the background for years, and I'm happy to stay that way. What happened at the pool was just one of those things, it may have meant more, but we don't have to think about that at the moment. I just want you to get through the next few weeks, and then start building your life again. I'll always be here for you ok" he pulls back and looks at me "and confession time... I also had to have a release after the lounger, but I'm not lucky enough to have a male rabbit equivalent, I had to rely on good old handjob" I smirk, and Bex bursts out laughing "and yes, Harry and Joe both know, and now Cal probably knows the whole story too, because he was heading over to the house when we left" we head back in a comfortable silence. I'm happy now that its all out there. We can move on and just try and get through this.

"Just so you know, I have heard the whole sordid tale. The rabbit, the hand, the lounger, everything OK. And I really don't want to hear any more details, because I can't look at you the same way ever again Bex, without thinking about furry little bunny's" Cal speaks as soon as we get home, and everyone bursts out laughing.

"Honestly, what the f**k has happened to everyone? Have you all gone nuts? Harry f****d a band girl, Joe is taking it slow with a girl, Nate got a hard on over his best mates sister and had to f**k his hand in the shower, and Bex f****d a rubber rabbit! That just leaves me to go a bit nuts now!" Cal looks defeated, but it is so funny, we all give him a hug.
