Just Good Friends?

Chapter 5 - He's back

Ben

"Wow, she is amazing! Dad, did you see her!"? Jake is jumping around, excitement oozing out of him.

"Yeah kid, I saw her. She is really something" I look over to Oscar.

"Right, keep practicing dude, I'm heading over to my friends. See you in a bit" he turns to me and salutes with 2 fingers to his head.

"You're not going to stick around and wait for her"? I ask dumbfounded.

"Ha, I'm not worried dude, as I said, I'm gonna marry her one day. I know she's mine and wouldn't look at anyone else. Others can admire her, that's fine by me, but they can't touch her, I can" and he walks off with a twinkle in his eye, through the water towards a group of other amazing looking kids (as I now know they are).

Bex is back on a wave, but this time there is someone else on it too. This must be Joe then, as Oscar said surfers don't share waves... must be dangerous or something I'm guessing. I watch them both with awe. They are kind of weaving in and out of each others way, but it looks like Bex has the upper hand... just. They are both amazing, and it actually makes me want to learn how to surf! Not that I will, not enough guts. I see Joe heading this way, and he stops near Jake.

"Hey little dude, looking fit there man. Did you see that, she totally wiped me" but he's grinning like a big over excited kid. He's obviously not pissed that his sister did better than him. Joe is a taller male version of Bex... well that's kind of obvious seeing as they are twins, but I mean, they aren't identical, he has the same hair colour but it's wavy rather than curls, and he has the same tanned skin, bright smile and dark eyes. Joe is another model type just like the rest of his friends. These kids are giving me major body issues, I need to get to the gym I think.

Another boy heads over with his board.

"Dude, she totally wiped you then! Hey little dude, I see you've been taught by the best eh"?

"Ah Harry, there's still time for me to settle the score with her" Joe leaves the sea and pops his board by the lifeguards. He turns and runs towards the group that Oscars with, and grabs a blonde girl around the legs and picks her up. She shrieks but laughs and slaps his back. He gently lowers her down and kisses her on the lips. Girlfriend obviously.

"Who's the f*****g hot sexy chick and the hot sexy group"? Jase nudges me with his elbow as he sneaks up on me. I've know Jase for 25 years, we met on our first day of school and been best mates since.

"Don't even go there mate" I shake my head whilst staring over at the group.

"Why, want her all for yourself do you, you saw her first and all that"?

"Firstly, she has a boyfriend which I'm sure you've noticed seeing as you've been watching, and secondly, she's 17!"

"Holy mother f*****g s**t! Really!?!"

"Really, they're all the same age mate, shocking isn't it"

Bex catches another wave, perfection glowing from her, then makes her way over to where we are.

"f**k, she could get someone in big trouble" Jase mutters as I turn towards her.

"They aren't wrong about you, you are really good out there" I tell her as she gets near.

"Ah thanks, but I've been surfing since I could walk practically, so I've had a lot of practice"

"This is Jase" I introduce her to the goof dribbling next to me.

"I'm the long suffering best mate, nice to meet you" he really can't stop staring... but then she really is the hottest thing I've ever seen.

"You too, hows Jake getting on"? She looks over to where Jake is.

"He's doing so well, caught every wave he's gone for so far. Thanks so much for helping him" Jakes mum died in a car crash 6 months ago. He has been really difficult since, which I'm not surprised at, but I've never been a full time Dad to him and we were struggling to find a good balance between each other. This is the happiest I've seen him since before she died.

"I'll go do some more with him before I head over to my friends" she strides off towards him and we see them chatting and Jake looking a little unsure. She is obviously encouraging him with something, as he gets this determined look on his face and nods his head.

"Why hasn't the boyfriend come over yet, sure he should be keeping an eye on her with us drooling over her and everything"? Jase asks.

"He trusts her, he loves her. Says he's going to marry her one day and I believe him. He's not embarrassed about his feelings in the slightest"

"Hmmm, they have it made don't they. How come we are looking at 17 year olds for relationship goals"? Jase said thoughtfully.

"Oscar's 18" I tell him for no reason at all.

Neither of us has ever had a serious relationship. They always ended with us cheating or just simply moving on. The closest I'd got was Jakes mum, and that was only a year, and we had drifted apart months before we split. I didn't really have much time with Jake either. I was a rubbish dad, one that he didn't deserve. I've made a promise to myself and him, that I'll be there for him forever from now on. He needs me now more than ever.

Jake

"That was awesome dude. You've picked this up really quick. We'll be seeing you out there with us before you know it" Bex and Jake headed towards his dad. He was so pleased with himself, he could now go in to school Monday and tell his new friends that he could surf... still needed loads of practice, but he knows what to do to get better now, all thanks to this girl Bex. My dad seems to like her he thinks to himself.

He hasn't stopped staring at her, and neither has Uncle Jase, it's really embarrassing.

Oscar

So Bex has yet more admirers, Oscar laughs to himself. "What you giggling like a girl for Oscar"? Nate throws the ball at my head, but I catch it.

"Just Bex and the attention she gets everywhere we go" I told that guy Ben I was going to marry her one day... I can't though, and I really need to talk with her, and soon.

"Lucky you two are so solid though, easy to get worried about s**t like that" Nate's looking over at Bex to where she's chatting with Ben and his friend. Nate had a thing for Bex a few years ago, but I'm pretty sure he's over it now. He's been best mates with Joe since we were 3 years old. We've always hung around in a group, but it's always been Nate and Joe. Nate liking Bex has never been an issue between us, but I do catch him looking at her sometimes, when he thinks no-one is watching. I can't blame him, she's the most stunning girl I've ever set eyes on in my life. She's sexy but doesn't know it, which makes her even more sexy. She has these dark sultry eyes that can see right inside your soul, and these gorgeous soft lips that I just want to feel all over my body. I am totally gone for her and she knows it. I just wish I didn't have to break us.

I'm lost in my thoughts about her, when somebody jumps on my back and wraps their legs around me. I know it's her, no other girl would dare jump on me. I pull her around to the front of me so she has her arms around the back of my neck, and is gazing down at me with those gorgeous eyes. I can't stop myself from kissing her hard, then I need to cool down so throw myself backwards into the water. She dives off me just in time before falling on top of me, and comes back up laughing, god I love this girl.

"f**k me those two are hot!" Jase is practically salivating infront of me.

"Stop f*****g staring at them mate, yes they're f*****g hot together, but s**t, we need to get some good women for ourselves" just as I finish, we hear a shout, and a guy starts walking through the water towards Bex and Oscar. This guy is the best looking one out of all of them. He's tall, dark and handsome, straight from the movies handsome. It's as if we're on the set of Bay Watch right now. They all turn heads, but this one has girls pissing their pants as he walks past, with absolutely no interest in any of them. He only has eyes for one girl.

"Well, if it isn't the hottest chick I've ever known in my life" then he whistles. Bex turned around suddenly as if she recognises the voice, then runs towards him and jumps in to his arms. He swings her around and gives her a big smacking kiss on the mouth. I look over to Oscar expecting to see him angry, but he's smiling, strange. I can't hear what they're saying, but they seem like good friends that haven't seen each other in a while. The guy walks towards Oscar but doesn't put Bex down. The two boys bump fists and do the old shoulder hug thing.

"Oscar, how's the luckiest dude alive then"?

"Mike, good to see you, still lucky as you can see. How's things"?

"Not too bad buddy, I needed to see my partner in crime, she tells me how it is you know" Mike finally puts Bex down, but leaves his arm draped over her shoulder.

"You getting yourself in to trouble then are you?"

"Yeah, my Dad sent me back here for final year, thinks I'll behave with Bex better than with the guys around his place" he laughs at that.

"Didn't you have to move because of the trouble you two got in to?"

"Yep, he's got no idea! What's the plans tonight then? Party?" Mike grins at Bex and gives her a pleading look

"Did someone say party?! Yes baby, let's do it!" Joe grabs Em around the waist and throws her over his shoulder and heads out of the water.

"Ah f**k, what have you done?" But Bex laughs and shakes her head.

"Guess we are then! Let's go" Mike starts heading back to their bags, but Bex goes to get her board.

As Joe passes us, he asks "Party? You got a sitter for Jake? Ems sister Tilly is a star if you need her"

"Sounds good, but aren't we a bit old for your parties?"

"Hell no! All ages at our gaff. Look up there on the cliff, that's our place. Any time, see you later, bring friends if you want" he gives me Tillys number and grabs his board.

"s**t, that house is huge! You definitely want to go?" I'm staring up at this mansion on the cliff overlooking the beach.

"Yeah man, look at it! I bet they hold some wicked parties there, even if they are only 18. Let's call some of the boys and head down tonight. Give that chick a ring and get her to sit with Jake. If the party's s**t and full of kids, we can head to town
