The evening air crackled with tension as I stood in Ethan's office, staring at the woman who had appeared unannounced at our pack borders. Her presence had sent Ethan into a protective frenzy, but it was her connection to Mason that truly caught my attention.
"Alexandra Blackwood," she introduced herself, her crimson lips curving into a knowing smile. "Mason and I go way back. Don't we, darling?"
Mason's face had drained of color the moment she walked in. I'd never seen him look so shaken, not even during our most dangerous encounters. His usual composure crumbled, replaced by a mix of fear and something that looked unsettlingly like guilt.
"You shouldn't be here," he said, his voice rough with barely contained emotion. "Our business was concluded years ago."
