9 Ashton As we drove away from my queen’s house, a number of thoughts flooded my mind. The first one was that I hadn’t been in the human world in many decades. I was amazed I still knew how to drive. Then my thoughts shifted to Hayley and everything that had just happened. It hadn’t been a coincidence I had come for her when I did. I was convinced Mahaeru had sent me here because she knew Vasant had learned about Hayley and had sent his soldiers to find her and kill her.
