24 Hayley Ash gave me ten minutes to grab my things, which weren’t many, get some food, and meet him outside by the horse. My movements were automatic, and my mind was numb as I went through the motions. When we were finally on the horse’s back and riding away from the chalet in the middle of the night, I inhaled deeply, taking in the pine and oak scents from the forest and letting them clear my thoughts. Besides having just started a great night with Ash and finally broken through his wall, we also had a nasty fight, and he had to kill nine fae soldiers, one of which seemed to be a friend of his.
