Trying not to get her hopes up or come up with too many scenarios as to what her mom was going to tell her, Andi focused on keeping her mind blank as she drove. Twenty minutes later, she pulled into the fenced yard and parked off to the right. She got out and waited for Tim, whom she'd zipped past at the last minute. The hot sun beat down on her head, making sweat pop out in beads on her face. Wiping and then fanning her face, she walked to where Tim had pulled up behind her. He had been her best friend in school and someone her mom had kind of adopted as her son. There had never been anything between them, at least not on her part. Sometimes she wasn't sure about Tim.
