I was in the kitchen making dinner when I heard my phone ringing in the sitting room. I turned off the stove and went to check who it was. When I picked it up, I saw Rafe’s name on the screen.
“Hey, amore. How are you doing?” he asked, his voice overly excited.
I smiled as I walked back into the kitchen. “I’m fine. I just got back from work not too long ago, and I got completely drenched in the rain because I didn’t take my car today,” I said into the phone.
“That’s exactly why I’m here,” he replied smoothly. “To warm you up.”
My heart skipped. I rushed to the kitchen window and pulled the curtain aside. His car was parked right outside. I gasped, then laughed, excitement bubbling inside me. I quickly turned off the stove and wiped my hands.
