Maxwell The engines roared to life, vibrating through my chest as I swung my leg over my bike. The familiar weight beneath me should have steadied my mind. Racing was the one place I never lost focus.But today nothing disappeared. My eyes kept drifting, against my will, to the sidelines. Amelia stood behind the barrier, hands clasped in front of her, her attention locked on the track. She wasn’t looking at me, she wasn’t looking anywhere near me.
