The ice is beautiful, but I can’t skate for s**t. I’ve spent more time on my ass than on my feet, but I’m having an absolute blast. Megan zooms around me, showing off, and I’m thrilled to see her so happy. Melissa and Caine are gliding together, laughing, until a kid bumps into them. They both crash to the ice, landing flat on their backs. I burst into laughter, but that’s when karma hits me. I slip and fall again, unable to stop myself, and the impact sends me into another fit of giggles.
Max’s voice cuts through the sound of my laughter. "You alright over there, babe?" he calls, a teasing lilt to his tone. I yell back, daring him to come out here and pick me up. I try to get up, but my uncoordinated self is having none of it.
