Chapter 1

The end of high school and the beginning of the rest of our life occurred today. It was a glorious day with a bright sun and cosy, warm weather. I was eager for the day to end so that I could take my best friend Catherine to the beach. Growing up in the Salloh Hills pack together, she and I have been pals since we were puppies. Jason, my elder brother, was a controlling and overly protective person. Nothing I could do would keep him from knowing. It was nicer this year without him breathing down my neck because he graduated last year. My easygoing and effervescent attitude made me quite popular in my school, not because I was a Beta's daughter or because I had a beautiful elder brother. Except for a few Red River pack members, I got along with everyone. I once dated the soon-to-be Alpha Brody, you see. After going through Alpha training with my longtime buddy and soon-to-be Alpha Fred, he initially appeared kind before revealing his true nature. He began treating me like I was just there to stand next to him and look pretty as soon as he went. Lam, that is not who I am, and I never will be. Yes, I was attractive. I was five feet seven, with blue eyes and brown hair that fell to my waist. had a DD brn size and all the proper curves. I used to think I was ordinary, but once Jason chased all the lads away, I realised how good looking I really was. I was standing by my locker when I heard the person I detested the most cackle. Brittany. She was still in our grade and Brody's younger sister. Brody should be at Alpha camp, but he sticks around. He graduated with my brother last year. He was merely arrogant and believed he was above the further instruction. I shut my locker, rolled my eyes, and faced the she-devil and her entourage. "Look who it is, ladies—my brother dumped this pitiful piece of trash to the side." Brittany chuckled, and her minions laughed too. She had no idea that I had gotten rid of him and his liar last year. The one who remained fixated and believed we were together was him. It is funny that you brought that up. I squared my shoulders and stood. "I thought yesterday was garbage day, yet here you stand." With distaste, he gazed up and down at her expensively designed outfits. I was bored of the gang since they continuously showed off their wealth. "Ugh." Catherine groaned. "You ready to hit the beach? Graduation is tomorrow and we need to get our tan on." She did a little shimmy dance.x "Of course!" I smiled, then realized Brody was still standing by/us. "Need something?" Catherine rolled her eyes. She never liked him and was always good at reading people. I knew I should have listened to her when she said he was no good. x "Actually." He turned to me. "I was wondering if I could speak to Kenzie for a minute." He rubbed the back of his neck and tried to play innocent. I rolled my eyes since it meant he wanted something and it was not going to happen again. "Only my friends call me that. It's Winifred and weneed tp gg" Nytone was clipped as flook Catherine's hand and started to walk past him. "It will only take a minute. He took hold of my forearm. I looked down at his hand, then at him with a raised brow. "Remember what happened last time?" "Fine." He removed his hand and put them at his sides. "But please." He tried his best to beg. He was never used to not getting his way and, with me, that was all he got. He never got his way, and it pissed him off. "One minute." I rolled my eyes. "I'll meet you outside." I turned to Catherine, who was shooting daggers at Brody. "If you are not out front in 2 minutes, I'm sending-" "I'll be there!" I said, since I knew who she was going to get. Our brothers were supposed to pick us up and take us to the beach. Like myself, Catherine had an older brother, Erik. With one last glare at Brody, Catherine growled as she walked toward the doors. She never liked it when Brody and I were alone, and growling was her way of showing him she was pissed. I turned around and rested my back against my locker. I was so glad I wore shorts and a tank top today and not a sundress. I stood there as Brody walked closer and put his forearms on the locker, so I was caged in. He leaned down, moving my hair to the side with his face. "I miss you." He practically whimpered as he inhaled my scent. Me, on the other hand, I was disgusted by him and his words. "The feeling is not mutual." I moved to the side, so he was not touching me.x "Why do you have to be so difficult?" He huffed, his posture stiffening. "I'm not, Kold you and your cheating ass why it was over and never going to happen again." I rebutted. "Why you little-" she hissed and lunged at me, but stopped short of me. When I opened my eyes, her minions were evaluating her while she lay flat on her back. "Winnie. "I heard Catherine approaching from behind. She put her hand on my shoulder, gathering her breath, and murmured, "You alright?" "Of course." I confidently responded. As if she could matehmera "How in hell did you do that?" Brittany screamed and got up, and I swear I could feel blood leaking from my ears. "Nothing." I gave a shrug. "You had to have fallen." She threw a fit and stomped her foot, saying, "No!" She was a youngster, I promise. "You accomplished it, crazy bitch!" "Hi!" The voice echoed through the hallways, and I recognised the person right away. I rolled my eyes, sensing his sneaky backside approach. I saw Brittany straighten up and put on her pitiful, innocent-appearing expression. She exclaimed, "Beck!" and hurried to embrace him. "I fell because of Little Miss Crazy!" As she gave him a hug, I complained. It is known as "tripping on air," you moron. Catherine muttered something, which made me laugh. Brittany turned to face us with a glare, and we responded with a smirk. X Brody drew her to his arms and said, "Bri." "What have I taught you about talking about your future, Luna, in that way?" Gazing at her broad ones, he spoke in a firm tone. When he named me his Luna, I nearly choked. Since we first met four years ago, he has referred to me as such, insisting without fail that I am his mate. Yes, but why did he deceive me? To that, he had no response. "She will not be our Luna," we said. Brittany growled. "That is one area of agreement between us." I fired back. I remained unmoved even though Brody Idoked over his shoulder and gave me a fierce look. My wolf is with me. Some reach us at the age of sixteen. When we turn 18, we meet our partners. Even though Beekett was already eight, I did not get the impression that we were friends. "I really can not stand him, ugh." Rose, my wolf, snorted in my brain. "I am not sure what you perceived in him." "Me too, and you. I am starting to believe that simply granting him the time of day was a mistake." I rolled my eyes inwardly. "Just leave." As I concluded my conversation with my wolf, I heard him • Changed Words - Structural Changes • Longest Unchanged Words say. "See you at home," I said. "This is not too extreme." As she passed past me and bumped into my shoulder, Brittany muttered.
